UNDERWOOD CLAIMS TOP SPOT AS COUNTRY SWEEPS U.S. ALBUMS CHART
CARRIE UNDERWOOD has put rumours her ex is now dating BRITNEY SPEARS behind her by claiming the top spot on America’s new albums chart.
It’s a great week for country music on the Billboard 200 - the top three albums are all debuts from country acts.
American Idol winner Underwood’s Carnival Ride scores the singer the biggest sales week for a female country act in three years, with 527,000 copies sold more than 400,000 more than bluegrass star Alison Krauss’ Raising Sand collaboration with rocker Robert Plant, which debuts in second place.
Singer Gary Allan comes in third with his new album Living Hard.
Meanwhile, System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian’s solo debut, Elect The Dead, enters at four with 69,000 first-week sales, and progressive rockers Coheed & Cambria claim the new sixth spot with No World for Tomorrow.
