FANS PACK DUBE MEMORIAL
LATEST: Fans and friends of South African reggae great LUCKY DUBE packed a Johannesburg club on Wednesday to remember the late star, who was the victim of a fatal carjacking last week (ends19Oct07).
Almost a thousand people packed a memorial service for Dube at the Bassline Jazz Club, while another thousand watched the service on screens outside.
Dube, 43, was killed last Thursday (18Oct07) after dropping his children off at a relative’s house.
Three gunmen attacked him. He managed to drive away from the scene after he was shot, but died at the wheel a short distance away and crashed his vehicle into a tree.
Police have arrested five men in connection with the brutal slaying.
