ONO: ‘I WANTED TO MARRY A PRIEST’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:20 pm

YOKO ONO insists her dreams of marrying a priest came true when she wed JOHN LENNON - because he was more spiritual than most.
The artist/musician grew up wanting nothing more than to support a religious man and help him raise a family.
She tells America’s More magazine, "In my 20s, I wanted to be a writer, and I think I am. I wanted to marry a priest and, as his wife, take care of the Sunday school.
"This almost became true - John’s spirit was priest-like." Ono also dreamed that she and Lennon would live a peaceful life together forever - until her world was shattered by the former Beatle’s assassination in 1980.
She adds, "I thought I would be with my husband, retired and living a peaceful life. Of course, that dream went out the window."

CLOONEY TO BECOME BOARD MEMBER OF GREEN ENERGY FIRM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:20 pm

Movie superstar GEORGE CLOONEY has been named as an executive board member of a new environmentally-friendly Swiss energy company.
Clooney will sit on the board of the currently-unnamed firm, which is being set up by Swiss billionaire Nicolas Hayek - the chairman of watch company Swatch Group - to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in energy consumption.
However, Hayek admits he wasn’t sure whether to invite Clooney or former U.S.
Vice-President Al Gore to join him in his new venture.
Hayek decided on Clooney because it remains unclear whether Gore will run as a candidate in next year’s (08) U.S. presidential election, and the mogul was worried the former Vice President and Oscar winner wouldn’t have the time for his eco-energy firm.

Staff and patients have begun precautionary evacuation measures as the fires that began on Sunday morning (21Oct07) threaten the centre.

As WENN went to press, only 10 per cent of the blaze has been contained.

JOSH HARTNETT has missed out on buying a dream home in New Zealand - after he was outbid for the property.

He says, "New Zealand is a beautiful country. I actually wanted to buy a plot of land there but I got outbid.
"It was on the west coast of the North Island, which is kind of a surfer’s paradise with volcanic black rocks, black sand beaches, and tumultuous winds.
"You could drive along the South Island, deserts, mountains, lake regions, going along the coast where it’s kind of tropical."

COPPOLA: ‘YOUTH WITHOUT YOUTH IS NOT A COMEBACK’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:17 pm

Veteran director FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA has dismissed talk his new movie YOUTH WITHOUT YOUTH is a ‘comeback’, even though it’s his first film in 10 years.
Youth Without Youth, which premiered at the Rome Film Festival in Italy over the weekend (20/21Oct07), is Coppola’s first movie as director since 1997’s The Rainmaker.
But Coppola insists he always planned to make more films.
He says, "I never went anywhere. A comeback is, like, when a fighter stops fighting and then goes and says I’m retiring and then makes a comeback. Who is to say what a film director’s schedule has to be? "I didn’t really ever stop making movies; I think that moviemaking is a stop-and-start process. If you then start to write a project that takes a long time or if you are ultimately having difficulty achieving what you were trying to do… things could prolong."

CROWE & RZA COLLABORATION NIXED BY FILM BOSSES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:14 pm

Studio executives have robbed music fans of an odd collaboration between RUSSELL CROWE and rapper RZA after declaring their jamming demo wasn’t good enough for the soundtrack of the pair’s new film.
Oscar winner Crowe, who fronts his own band The Ordinary Fear Of God, and the Wu-Tang Clan star bided their time between takes on American Gangster performing and teaching each various music skills.
But when RZA - real name Robert Diggs - presented producers with rough cuts of songs the pair had come up with, they opted not to include the duo on the soundtrack.
RZA says, "On some songs we had a little bit of a groove going on throughout the movie and we tried to suggest some of those songs to Universal but the ideas never stuck.
"Me and Russell jammed. He’s a better guitar player than me. I actually picked up a few tips from him. He’s so sincere with his lyrics." And Crowe was stunned when he discovered the words to one of his songs had helped the rapper end a feud with his partner.
The Gladiator star explains, "I have a song called Weight Of The Man and it’s a huge compliment that he would be into the song.
"He was having an argument with his girlfriend and she was demanding some sort of explanation from him. He listened to the song he told me the next day how he was on the phone saying, ‘Baby, it’s just the weight of a man,’ and it got him off the hook."

MENDES FIGHTS FOR TV SERIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:14 pm

Actress EVA MENDES has blasted U.S. TV network bosses - for ignoring her new series concept about the family of a Mexican-American Los Angeles mayor.
The Hitch star got involved with the series because it’s something she’d like to watch on TV, instead of all the reality shows and supernatural dramas that have taken over.
She says, "When I see shows like All In The Family and Good Times I think, ‘Why don’t we have shows like that anymore? They were talking about social political issues that are still relevant today and they were hysterical. Where are those shows today?’ "Right now, they all want the supernatural. Where are the thought provoking shows? I produce to get stories told and there’s a couple of stories that I’m dying to tell that have just been hard to get off the ground.
"I thought acting was difficult, try producing and selling a show. I did pitch meetings for the first time and that was the worst week ever. It’s just awful to pitch something. It’s very hard to keep your integrity when you’re asking someone to please buy this.
"The new show about a Los Angeles mayor, who lost his wife in a car accident and so he moves his mother in with him and she becomes his First Lady.
"All the networks passed. It’s really a genius concept."

TOMEI ASKS PARENTS TO AVOID DOGGIE-STYLE SEX SCENE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:11 pm

Oscar winner MARISA TOMEI is begging her parents to stay away from her new movie BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOU’RE DEAD - because it features a doggie style sex scene with co-star PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN.
The actress insists the scene was very carefully and sensitively shot by director Sidney Lumet, but it’s still likely to shock her family.
She says, "I’m grown up now, so I guess it’ll really hit home. I spoke to mom about it the other day and I said, ‘I don’t know if you really want to come to this or if you want to see it.’ I’d rather you didn’t.
"She said, ‘We heard already, we know about it.’" Tomei admits she was initially worried about performing a graphic sex scene but Lumet was a "class act".
She adds, "Having the Sidney factor balances it out; he’s a mensch. I felt even more comfortable than I did just acting fully clothed.
"I seem to tap into these kinds of women, the ones you call ’slut’."

TIMBERLAKE COST ‘N SYNC BANDMATES OPPORTUNITIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:11 pm

Former ‘N SYNC star LANCE BASS will never forgive former bandmate JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE for leaving the band hanging as he embarked on a solo career.
Bass had no idea that Timberlake’s Gone composition was his subtle message to his bandmates that he was ready to quit - for good.
Instead, Timberlake insisted he was just going to record a solo album and then return to the boy band, who still had two albums to record, as per the terms of their record contract.
Bass says, "When you really look back at it, with the song Gone, it was just him, no one else had any leads… It was just his solo record.
"Never did we think that it was grooming him to become a solo artist so that he wouldn’t go back to ‘N Sync." Bass admits he gave up chances to further his acting career while he was awaiting Timberlake’s return.
He adds, "I gave up so many opportunities, some television projects that I personally wanted to do, because I knew couldn’t."

LIL’ WAYNE FAILS TO PLAY GIG, ANGERS FANS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:08 pm

Rapper LIL’ WAYNE left hundreds of fans disappointed on Sunday (21Oct07), when he failed to show up for a high school performance in Hanover, North Carolina.
The gig had originally been cancelled by the New Hanover County School Board due to fears of gang violence.
However, Lil’ Wayne’s concert promoter threatened breach of contract legal action over the cancellation, and the show was set to go ahead after organisers agreed to draft in extra security.
Despite the pre-gig troubles, Lil’ Wayne didn’t take the stage at all, disappointing fans who are now clamouring for a refund, according to website TMZ.com.
Other reports suggest the concert was called off due to poor ticket sales, although over 4,000 fans attended.

HEART ATTACK CLAIMS ROCKER RAVEN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:08 pm

LATEST: KILLING JOKE and MINISTRY bassist PAUL RAVEN has died from a heart attack.
The rocker was found dead at a friend’s home in Geneva, Switzerland on Saturday (20Oct07). He was 46.
Raven’s body was found by Prong drummer Ted Parsons, who reveals he had been out drinking with the bass player/producer the night before on his MySpace.com page.
Parsons, who was working with Raven on the new Treponem Pal project, writes, "I found Raven asleep in a chair the next morning in a living room.
"I thought nothing of it, as Raven would sleep like this on the tour bus in the front lounge all the time. Then I looked closer at him, and he looked very gray (sic). I checked his pulse and there was none. I yelled for the other guys in the band.
"We immediately did some CPR and called for an ambulance. Medics arrived quickly, but after an hour of trying to get his heartbeat back, they could not save him. They said he died in his sleep, probably around 6am.
"Words can’t describe how I feel right now. I’m devastated. He will be missed by many." Following tributes from Raven’s Killing Joke bandmates, Ministry’s Al Jourgensen has expressed shock at the news.
In a statement, he says, "The world of music is a sadder, emptier place. Not only was Raven an extraordinary talent, but one of my closest, dearest friends." Raven became one of the world’s most influential bass players when he replaced Youth in Killing Joke in 1982. He was part of the cult group’s heyday in the mid-1980s, recording albums like Fire Dances, Night Time and Brighter Than A Thousand Suns with the group.
He quit Killing Joke in the late 1980s but rejoined in 1990 for the recording of the well-received Extremities, Dirt & Various Repressed Emotions.
He began working with Jourgensen and Ministry in 2005.

COMBS SERVED WITH LEGAL PAPERS FOR ORDERING PROMOTER ‘ATTACK’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:08 pm

SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS’ legal woes continued on Friday (19Oct07) night - the rap mogul was served with legal papers relating to a lawsuit claiming he ordered three bodyguards to attack a hip-hop promoter.
Combs was walking into his New York flagship Sean John clothing store when he was served with the paperwork.
Although his bodyguards hit them to the ground as Combs continued to walk inside, one minder returned to collect the papers.
The promoter who filed the suit, James Waldon, alleges he tried to introduce himself to Combs at The Box club on 1 June (07), when one minder punched him in the face onto a table, while two more bodyguards began hitting and kicking him.
Waldon claims he made his escape after Combs’ employees chased him around the venue. According to court papers, the 27-year-old was left with mouth and teeth injuries.
Waldon is seeking $4 million (£2 million) in damages from Combs and his entourage and a further $500,000 (£250,000) from The Box.
The lawsuit isn’t the only legal problem Combs is currently facing - he was reportedly involved in an altercation with a man at New York’s Kiosk nightclub on 13 October (07). The mogul claims the punch-up was "a disagreement among acquaintances".
And earlier this month (Oct07), it emerged Combs is being sued by a former associate who claims the rap superstar owes him $19 million (£9.5 million) for music recorded by late pal and label star Notorious B.I.G.

SCHWARZENEGGER PROCLAIMS STATE OF EMERGENCY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:38 pm

California Governor ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER toured an area devastated by the Malibu wildfire on Monday morning (22Oct07), calling the blaze, believed to be caused by falling power lines, a state tragedy.
The seaside celebrity enclave near Los Angeles was ravaged by a fast-paced wildfire, which broke out early on Sunday morning (21Oct07).
The blaze has already claimed an animal hospital and landmark buildings Hodge Castle, which was reportedly once owned by Bob Dylan, and Malibu Presbyterian Church, as well as five homes. One death has been reported.
At a press conference, the former action man paid tribute to "brave" state firefighters, calling them "the best-trained, the best-equipped, the most experienced" in the world.
Confirming he had declared a state of emergency, Schwarzenegger went on to reveal that fierce winds and hot temperatures had conspired to spark seven individual fires throughout Southern California.
He revealed, "Tens of thousands of acres have burned, thousands of buildings have been threatened… We’re doing all we can to protect the lives and also the property.
"I proclaimed a state of emergency in seven counties." More than 24,000 acres have been claimed by the Malibu fire, which is still only 10 per cent under control. Hundreds people have been evacuated from their homes.

KINGSLEY: ‘DON’T HIRE ACTORS WITH PERSONAL PROBLEMS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:38 pm

British actor SIR BEN KINGSLEY has urged film bosses to stop hiring actors with too many personal issues - because their problems hinder their big-screen performances.
The Gandhi star fears actors take on roles to distract them from their real-life problems when they should be dealing with their foibles away from film sets.
He says, "I know some actors and they’re going through hell, and they think that they can use their baggage in their acting. They can’t. "The mistake that casting directors or producers often make is that if they cast actors who are antagonistic to each other in real life, that is going to work on screen. It won’t."
