DeGENERES SCRAPS SHOW
Comedienne ELLEN DeGENERES cancelled the taping of her chat show on Thursday (18Oct07) after begging fans to stop making death threats to the woman at the centre of a dog adoption nightmare.
DeGeneres vowed to stop talking about her former adopted dog Iggy, insisting the issue was "out of hand".
The talk show host and her partner Portia de Rossi came under fire by the Mutts And Moms agency after handing over custody of the Brussels Griffon mix to DeGeneres’ hairdresser after it fought with her cats.
The agency claims the switch violated an agreement it had with DeGeneres when she agreed to house the pet - and reclaimed the pooch from the hairdresser and her young daughters.
DeGeneres broke down on her chat show on Tuesday (15Oct07) as she recalled the nightmare, prompting fans to bombard Mutts And Moms boss Marina Batkis with death threats.
And, after stirring up the dog mess and going public with it, DeGeneres opted to cancel the taping of her Friday (19Oct07) show.
Sources claim DeGeneres will return to work on Tuesday (23Oct07) after taking a long weekend after a trying week.
A statement on the show’s website reads, "Ellen is taking a long weekend and will be back with a new show on Tuesday."
