RAIMI BACKS DOWN FROM LOTR PLANS FOR JACKSON

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:38 pm

Filmmaker SAM RAIMI has offered to back out of plans to direct the next LORD OF THE RINGS movie, so PETER JACKSON take charge of the fantasy prequel.
Jackson is currently battling with New Line studios over alleged unpaid royalties from the first three movies. Jackson has been banned from directing The Hobbit until the dispute is resolved, which prompted Raimi to express his interest in taking over the fantasy franchise.
But Jackson and New Line are reportedly close to reaching an agreement - and Raimi is refusing to interfere.
He tells MTV.com, "Well, it really is Peter Jackson’s project, and I wouldn’t make any conditions. If Peter Jackson wanted to direct it, I think that makes the most sense. I’m a giant fan of the book, and of Peter Jackson and his Lord of the Rings trilogy.
"If he didn’t want to direct it, and he was producing it, then I would love to be considered for the project."
