PINK threw animal activist INGRID NEWKIRK a party at her Hollywood home at the weekend (13-14Oct07) - and announced dreams of turning the place into a rescue shelter for stray animals.
People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) president Newkirk was looking for a place to launch her new book, Let’s Have A Dog Party: 20 Tailwagging Celebrations To Share With Your Best Friend, and animal lover Pink jumped at the chance to play hostess.
The longtime PETA supporter invited Hollywood dog lovers Kevin Nealon and Bill Maher to bring their own pooches to the bash, and PlanetGossip.eonline.com reports more than 30 pets ran around as guests mingled.
Turning her home over to the dogs for the day helped Pink visualise her dream.
She said, "This backyard was made for this. I want an animal sanctuary.
That’s my dream. I want acres and acres of free dogs, pigs, cows and horses." Pink and husband Carey Hart already have four dogs of their own - including two the pop superstar rescued from a junkyard.
She reveals, "There were seven of them… I wanted all seven, but Carey said no! So, we got two."

Rocker SHERYL CROW is designing her own fashion line.
The All I Wanna Do singer has teamed up with Canadian clothing manufacturer Western Glove Works for her new denim-based budget collection, Bootheel Trading Co. By Sheryl Crow.
Crow’s collection will launch late next year (08) in select U.S. department stores, where her clothes will sell for between $20 (£10) and $65 (£32.50). Western Glove Works also manufactures Victoria Beckham’s DVB line.

Pregnant actress HALLE BERRY is determined to do everything she can to become a green mum.
The Oscar winner and her model boyfriend Gabriel Aubry are already building an environmentally-friendly nursery and picking out organic diapers for their first baby together.
She tells website People.com, "They even have organic disposable diapers now that you can use. I’m working on the nursery, but it’s all going to be organic and eco-friendly.
"There are so many things out now that you can use. I’m going to really try hard to make it all organic."

SIR MICHAEL CAINE once awoke to find a ghost glowing in the dark - only to realise the phantom was actually a plate of smoked haddock.
As a child growing up in London, Caine’s father insisted the future actor leave his bedroom window open at night to let fresh air in, and because the room was so cold, the family left fresh fish in there to prevent if from going off.
But Caine was unaware smoked haddock glows in the dark.
He says, "My father, who was very tough, always insisted, ‘You’ve got to be healthy, keep the windows open at night.’ So, even in winter, the windows were always open. It was freezing cold.
"My father was a fish market porter and he used to steal fish to feed us. He used to keep the fish in our bedroom because it was the coldest room in the house.
"And one night, I woke up and I yelled because at the end of the bed there’s this ghost. I’m screaming, and my mother came in and said, ‘What’s the matter?’ "She turned the lights on and there was a big plate of smoked haddock. And smoked haddock has phosphorous in it and it glows in the dark. I thought it was a ghost, it was smoked haddock."

Veteran actor SIR MICHAEL CAINE’s last memory of collecting unemployment benefit as a younger man was seeing SIR SEAN CONNERY two places in front of him.
Caine and Connery, who went on to star in 1975’s The Man Who Would Be King together, have been friends since they met as struggling actors in the late 1950s.
Caine says, "I always remember, we were having very hard times and we used to always go and queue for the social security benefit, the unemployment money.
"And the last time I ever queued for that, Sean was two guys in front of me."

LATEST: MADONNA’s money-spinning new partnership with promoters Live Nation is a done deal.
Madonna will become the founding artist in the firm’s new Artist Nation division as part of the deal, which will net her an estimated $120 million (£60 million) over 10 years.
The pop superstar will receive a combination of cash and stocks in multi-media group Live Nation in return for giving executives the rights to sell three studio albums, promote concert tours and license her name. It’s the first deal of its kind.
In a statement confirming the agreement on Tuesday (16Oct07), Madonna says, "The paradigm in the music business has shifted and as an artist and a business woman, I have to move with that shift.
"For the first time in my career, the way that my music can reach my fans is unlimited. I’ve never wanted to think in a limited way and with this new partnership, the possibilities are endless. Who knows how my albums will be distributed in the future? "That’s what’s exciting about this deal - everything is possible. Live Nation has offered me a true partnership and, after 25 years in the business, I feel that I deserve that."

Actress JENNIFER CONNELLY was so affected by her latest role as a mother mourning the death of her child, she started stressing out on set.
Connelly tried to avoid thinking about her two sons as she made Reservation Road, but she couldn’t avoid the obvious - her 10-year-old son Kai is the same age as the boy who dies in the film.
She says, "I tried my hardest to really separate it (filming) from my personal life. I didn’t let myself think about my own family and my own kids.
It feels too exploitative… but I was having nightmares and having a hard time sleeping.
"Then my jaw kept locking up, and I couldn’t eat. I got a week into it and thought, ‘What have I done to myself?’"

Police investigating the car crash involving wrestling icon HULK HOGAN’s teenage son are awaiting the results of a drug and alcohol test.
Nick Bollea, 17, lost control of his father’s Toyota Supra on a Florida highway in August (07). According to officials, the vehicle flipped at high speed and collided with a palm tree.
Bollea’s 22-year-old passenger, U.S. Marine John Graziano, was critically injured in the crash and will need to be cared for in a nursing home for the rest of his life.
The police report into the incident - released to the media on Tuesday (16Oct07) - reveals the roads were wet at the time and that Bollea "disregarded other traffic control".
It also suggests that cops are waiting to see if Bollea, who was released from hospital a few days after the accident, was intoxicated at the time.

Cult filmmaker DAVID LYNCH met Israeli President SHIMON PERES on Monday (15Oct07) as part of a five-day visit to the Middle East, where the BLUE VELVET director is promoting transcendental meditation.
Lynch, who has been meditating for more than 30 years, is in Israel to encourage the use of meditation to combat violence in school and for creating a peaceful environment in general.
Speaking at the Sam Spiegel Film And Television School in Jerusalem he said, "Real peace is not just the absence of war but the absence of all suffering, all negativity. Change comes from within. From the first meditation, boom, you’re there."

Actor JON VOIGHT has publicly berated his son JAMES HAVEN over "heartbreaking" comments he made about him in the upcoming November (07) issue of Marie Claire magazine.
Haven has blasted his father, claiming he put his late mother through years of mental anguish, in the publication.
He tells the magazine, "I don’t want to constantly berate my father… but he put my mom through years of mental abuse, and it made me care especially for abandoned women and children.
"That’s my religion - helping widows and orphans." Haven’s sister Angelina Jolie has also attacked her father over the way he abandoned her mother Marcheline Bertrand, leaving her to bring up two children alone.
And Voight has had enough of his kids’ attacks.
He tells Life & Style magazine, "I find it very heartbreaking that my children want to paint a bad guy portrait of me. I feel it comes from their inability to let go of years of programmed anger from their mother, who understandably felt quite hurt when we divorced.
"In all truth, I tried to give him (Haven) and their mother continuous love and support and large sums of money. God knows, for years I’ve tried to mend this relationship.
"Perhaps the trauma of their mother’s passing has made it worse. I continuously send them my heart and love and am always available to them for whatever they need from me."

Country superstar GARTH BROOKS is releasing a special edition of his upcoming album THE ULTIMATE HITS to raise money for breast cancer awareness.
A ‘pink edition’ of Brooks’ greatest hits disc will be available through cancer charity Susan G. Komen For The Cure from 6 November (07), with $10 (£5) of the album’s $15 (£7.50) retail price going straight to the organisation.
Brooks decided to team up with Komen after his wife Trisha Yearwood took part in a fundraising walk organised by the charity.
He says, "I’ve never been more proud of her (Yearwood). So I immediately started to think, how can I be that cool?"

U2 are set to have a bird’s eye view of their native Dublin, Ireland when they record in the future after winning planning permission to build the city’s tallest apartment complex.
The rockers plan to construct a recording studio right at the top of their new luxury apartment block, which is set for completion in 2011.
The new building will be a revamp of U2’s Clarence Hotel, which currently stands on the site.

Rockers AC/DC have persuaded a porn website to drop their name after fans keen to get information about the group found themselves looking at dirty deeds.
ACDC.com has been specialising in porn for years, but now the Hell’s Bells hitmakers have taken charge of the domain name.
The group’s management chose to claim the site for themselves after learning young fans had been surfing the site by mistake.
Band spokesman Sam Horsburgh says, "The demographic of the band has shifted a lot. The push to get it (website domain name) back came predominantly because they knew there were a lot of younger fans coming through." The band plans to relaunch ACDC.com as an official website later this year (07).

LATEST: Rap mogul SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS is keen to settle what he’s calling "a disagreement among acquaintances" before his alleged Saturday night (13Oct07) punch-up lands him in court.
The rapper reportedly lashed out at Steven Acevedo during an altercation at New York’s Kiosk nightclub.
Combs’ attorney Benjamin Brafman has confirmed his client has not been arrested or charged in connection with the incident.
He says, "We are hopeful that this matter will be resolved without the filing of any criminal charges as this was a disagreement among acquaintances, not a criminal assault." Combs is alleged to have hit Acevedo twice, leaving his rival with a bloodied nose and swollen lip.
