JACKSON HOPES NEW FILM ENCOURAGES COUPLES TO SEEK GUIDANCE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:32 pm

JANET JACKSON hopes her hit new film WHY DID I GET MARRIED? encourages troubled couples to seek marriage guidance counselling.
The twice-divorced singer/actress admits she would have benefitted from the film’s message, which is not to let your union become a mess.
And amid reports she’s set to wed for a third time, Jackson reveals she’s not averse to walking down the aisle again, but this time she’ll consider seeking expert help if her marriage falters.
She says, "I think just having that spiritual connection and finding your soulmate and exchanging vows, is good - but it’s a work in progress.
"Marriage is not easy and if the love is really there you’ll work at it. You should go to counselling if it can help for sure and it definitely can help.
"One of the things that I absolutely love about this film is there are a lot of lessons within the film that are given to the spouses to work on for their relationship and you can actually take those lessons and apply them to your own relationship. It’s really well thought out." Why Did I Get Married? stunned movie experts on Sunday (14Oct07) when it debuted at number one on the U.S. box office chart with an impressive $21.5 million (£10.75 million) opening weekend take.

SORVINO DISTURBED BY NEW FILM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:32 pm

Oscar winner MIRA SORVINO is struggling with nightmares as she promotes her latest film - because it’s all about the death of a child.
The new mum is only glad that she didn’t have to play Jennifer Connelly’s role in the film, Reservation Road, because she’s the mourning mother in the movie.
But that doesn’t mean Sorvino is sleeping well.
She explains, "I had just given birth to my son four months before this film started shooting and I think I would have been too fresh in the joy of motherhood to contemplate directly losing it - as Jennifer does.
"I don’t want to put myself in the actual position about theorising about the loss of my kids.
"That said, this film has still had a very deep effect on me. I’m usually a very sound sleeper and I started having dreams involving my children and something happening to them while I was making the film.
"I had a bad dream the other night following one of these days talking about the film, about a rabbit that was very injured and I was carrying it and trying to feed it and keep it alive and trying to get a hospital to take care of it.
"My daughter calls herself a bunny so it was an allegory. I can’t wait to be done with the press now because it’s starting to eat at me."

USHER AMAZED BY NEGATIVE WEDDING COVERAGE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:32 pm

USHER was stunned by the negative press his recent marriage to pregnant girlfriend TAMEKA FOSTER attracted, because he feels people should celebrate a wedding.
The R&B singer - born Usher Raymond IV - and Foster wed at his lawyer’s office Atlanta, Georgia in August (07).
The nuptials followed a last minute cancellation of a star-studded wedding ceremony at music mogul Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid’s Sagaponack, New York home in late July (07) - leading to tabloid speculation it was called off because Usher’s mother Jonetta Patton and Foster didn’t get along.
He tells American magazine Essence, "It was like, `Wow!’ (Getting married) and having a child is something that everyone should celebrate. What’s happened to us as a culture and a people?"

KNIGHTLEY PROUD OF WINNING SCATHING DIRECTOR OVER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:29 pm

KEIRA KNIGHTLEY’s proudest moment came during a bout of food poisoning when she turned the worst audition ever into a huge success.
The actress had been "vomiting all morning" when she came face to face with super-critical The Jacket director John Maybury, who calmly told the Brit he didn’t think she could act.
Maybury went on to inform Knightley that he only agreed to audition her because producers were begging him to cast her opposite Adrien Brody in his film.
But, despite the criticism, her illness and the fact she had lost the script she was supposed to read from, the Pirates Of The Caribbean star won the filmmaker over.
She told the director to let her read and to stay silent if he was unimpressed and let her walk out of the room, adding, "If I’m good you have to offer me the part here and now." She tells Allure magazine Maybury stayed silent throughout her reading and then let her walk halfway towards to door of the audition room, before stating, "Here’s my mobile number, and I’ll see you on the set."

STEVE-O TO BARE ALL FOR PETA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:26 pm

Former JACKASS star and stunt impresario STEVE-O has become the latest star to bare all in a People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) ad.
The heavily-tattooed prankster peeled off for the latest ‘I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur’ campaign, which he will unveil in person at Los Angeles Fashion Week later this week (ends19Oct07).
And Steve-O’s threatening to get naked for the press - just to hammer home his point that fur farming is cruel.
A PETA spokesman says, "Steve-O might seem like a madcap, carefree guy, but he really cares about animals.
"For each fur coat, collar, or cuff, animals are trapped, drowned, or beaten to death in the wild or gassed, strangled, or electrocuted on fur farms. That really concerns Steve-O." The stuntman adds, "I never liked fur. Abuse yourself all you want, just leave animals out of it. I just say f**k it. Don’t wear fur!"

CONNELLY TERRIFIED OF FLYING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:26 pm

JENNIFER CONNELLY fears she’s the worst celebrity flyer - but she’s too nervous to take medication to calm her nerves.
The Oscar winner admits she’s a wreck on plane flights, and spends much of her time in the air in tears of panic.
She says, "Nothing really works for me. I’ve tried kissing the plane and I think it’s gonna make things better… I don’t like the noises and I know that every time they’re the same noises.
"Every time there’s that engine shift, it really freaks me out, any bump, I’m the one saying, like, ‘Ohhhh…’ and the tears start streaming down my face.
It’s really, really bad.
"I should be medicated; I think I deserve it, and so does the rest of the cabin… I can’t because I get nervous about that, like what if something happens? What if I’m the person who can’t get off the plane or, heaven forbid, can’t get my kids off the plane?" And Connelly’s flying phobia hit new heights recently when the plane she was in almost landed - and then took off again without warning.
She recalls, "It was an island (destination) and we almost landed and the plane tales off again - that’s really bad for someone like me.
"We start banking… and no one’s saying anything and I’m the kind of person they need to tell me what the problem is.
"I got my life preserver out. I kid you not, it was on my lap, I’m crying."

GROHL RECALLS NIRVANA POVERTY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:20 pm

Rocker DAVE GROHL refuses to look back on his days in NIRVANA nostalgically because, despite their phenomenal success, the band was just like any other he’s played in.
The former drummer, who now fronts Foo Fighters, recalls the abject poverty Nirvana endured before 1991’s breakthrough album Nevermind.
He says, "When I think of Nirvana, I think of Krist (Novoselic), Kurt (Cobain) and me. I think about us driving through Canadian snow-storms in a van leaking fuel. We’d reek like guys working in a gas station. I think about us selling equipment for food.
"I don’t think about number one records. I think of it like any other band I’ve been in - although that was the one that touched the most people.
"But I don’t wear it like a badge. For starters, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. And beyond that, it starts sitting like a chip on your shoulder.
"I was in a huge band at one point in my life and I can’t believe that happened to me, but I’m not looking back."

HARRY GIVES DUNST HER BLESSING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:17 pm

BLONDIE star DEBORAH HARRY has hit back at reports she’s unhappy with the casting of KIRSTEN DUNST in a forthcoming biopic of the singer, admitting the two stars have met and chatted about the project.
Dunst dealt with the initial internet criticism she received when she was first cast in the Michael Gondry film by stating Harry actually chose her for the role, and inviting unhappy Blondie fans to "take it up with her".
But subsequent reports have suggested Harry was far from happy with the idea of Dunst playing her.
Now the ageing punk icon has spoken out about the fuss, telling Spinner.com she has given the actress her personal blessing.
She says, "She’s (Dunst) a really sweet person. I’ve met with her a couple of times and hung out with her socially. She’s just a sweetie.
"She’s probably capable of a lot of things she hasn’t been asked to do yet, and doing something that’s sort of left of centre would be great for her."

NAS TO TEST RACE ISSUES WITH NEW ALBUM TITLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:17 pm

NAS is set to test hot-button race issues in rap by naming his next album NIGGA.
While many of his peers are apologising for using the ‘N’ word in past lyrics and refusing to use the derogatory term, the defiant I Can hitmaker is challenging the politically correct by using it to title his next release.
Nas told fans during a Friday night (12Oct07) show at New York’s Roseland Ballroom, that he plans to release the album by the end of 2007.
The album will be the follow-up to Nas’ critically acclaimed Hip-Hop Is Dead album.
Nas has at least one ally in his fight to keep the ‘N’ word alive and well in hip-hop - Mississippi rapper David Banner, who recently addressed the congressional rap lyrics hearings in Washington, D.C. by stating, "If by some stroke of the pen, hip-hop was silenced, the issues would still be present in our communities. Drugs, violence and the criminal element were around long before hip-hop existed."
