Clapton reveals all about his life as a rock legend in Eric Clapton: The Autobiography.
He tells talk show host Larry King, "It started out as a sort of ghost writing enterprise and then I thought - when I looked at it, I thought, well, I think I can do a better job. So I kind of consigned him (the ghost writer) to research duties and I took over writing.
"I always enjoyed writing. At school I liked - I did well in English. So it was nice to get back in touch with my education like that."

Country star KENNY ROGERS has sent the England rugby team a rousing message of support ahead of their World Cup semi-final against France on Saturday (13Oct07).
The 69-year-old singing legend slipped on a team shirt to record a passionate video message, after discovering the team gets fired up before games by listening to his hit The Gambler.
Rogers ranted, "You wrecked the Aussies for life and I also understand they’ll never get over it, so good on you for doing that.
"We’ve moved our sights from Australia to France. If you guys can’t beat those French b**tards then it’s a waste of time for all of us.

Troubled movie star OWEN WILSON has reportedly turned to ancient Native American remedies in a bid to rid himself of the depression that prompted him to attempt suicide.
The actor was hospitalised in August (07) after allegedly slitting his wrists at his home in Santa Monica, California, and is now recovering from the incident, surrounded by family members.
And, amid contrasting reports Wilson is planning a rehab stint and a road trip, the actor took off to America’s Grand Canyon at the end of September (07) for a secret cleansing meeting with Hualapai Indian elders, who live at the base of the famous gorge.
The Wedding Crashers star was joined by brothers Andrew and Luke on the low-key trip to Arizona, where the Wilsons also checked out the new glass walkway, which allows tourists to look directly into the Grand Canyon.
It was on the walkway that a Hualapai medicine man reportedly performed a cleansing ceremony for the troubled actor, waving sage over his head while dancing and chanting.
A bystander, who witnessed the odd moment, tells U.S. tabloid the National Enquirer, "They stayed on the platform for about 30 minutes - with the medicine man chanting and dancing the entire time.
"Afterward, Owen seemed happy, and he was chatting with tourists."

Pregnant actress MILLA JOVOVICH has registered with swanky Beverly Hills boutique Petit Tresor for her baby shower this weekend (13Oct07).

ORLANDO BLOOM’s cousin has blamed the paparazzi chasing the movie star for the car crash that left one of the actor’s passengers injured on Friday morning (12Oct07).
Photographer Sebastian Copeland insists his famous relative is "doing fine" after his early morning accident, but he was shaken up by the paparazzi army chasing him through Los Angeles - and that led to the crash.
Copeland tells U.S. TV news show The Insider, "Luckily, it was a fender bender and unfortunate, ofcourse, because he was chased by paparazzi and we know from the past what fatal consequences it can have. Luckily, this time around, he is fine." Copeland isn’t surprised the police found no evidence to suggest Bloom had been drinking alcohol while partying at Los Angeles club The Green Room earlier in the night - because the actor’s a tee-totaller.
The photographer adds, "He is a non-alcohol drinker so I think he is a great role model." And Copeland hopes something can be done about what he calls "this frenzy the media has with celebrities," before a star is seriously injured or killed in a car crash.
He rages, "I wish we could mandate something against this type of activity because it is bound to create more of this type of incident and puts people in danger and for what? A photograph of them coming out of a car or getting a Starbucks coffee?"

LATEST: ORLANDO BLOOM has thanked staff at Los Angeles’ Cedars Sinai Medical Center after they took "good care" of a childhood friend after she was injured in a car crash on Friday morning (12Oct07).
The British actor was driving a black Toyota Matrix, belonging to a friend, when he collided with a parked Porsche, leaving his unnamed passenger with minor neck injuries.
Acknowledging the accident in a statement later on Friday, Bloom’s publicist said, "Orlando Bloom, who was in a minor car collision late last night, is grateful that no one was seriously injured.
"Bloom called for help immediately following the incident. He spent last night at the hospital to be with his childhood friend, who sustained a minor neck injury.
"He is thankful that emergency services arrived so quickly and that the ER staff at Cedars Sinai took such good care of his friend." Meanwhile, Mark Ivanko, the owner of the Porsche the actor hit, is fuming after Bloom dashed away from the accident without even apologising to him leaving him with thousands of dollars worth of damage.
He tells In Touch Weekly magazine, "Orlando was just running away from the paparazzi. He didn’t say a word to me.
"The damage is pretty bad. Looks like it’s going to be at least $7,000. I have his phone number. He’s going to pay for my car."

CLIVE OWEN spent the night before his first scenes as historical hero SIR WALTER RALEIGH in the ELIZABETH sequel literally pulling his hair out.
The hunky Brit had extensions added to his mane to make him look more like a sea-faring Renaissance man - but he decided he hated the look at the last minute.
Owen explains, "The night before we were starting the shoot, I kept thinking, `It’s not right, it’s not right.’ I had full-on extensions through the whole hair.
"I told (director) Shekhar (Kapur), `I want to take more out. It feels like an actor in a period-film thing.’ So I spent the night before that first day taking it all out."

BRITNEY SPEARS has unveiled the tracklisting to her much-anticipated new album, BLACKOUT, after learning a German website had all the details and was leaking news online.
The pop star’s record label Jive released the album’s song titles and the cover art on Friday (12Oct07).
The artwork features a raven-haired Britney scowling into the camera, wearing a tattered white fedora and a sheer pink gown - in front of an abstract maze-like background.
Meanwhile, the tracks included on the album, which is scheduled to hit stores on 30 October (07), include new single Gimme More, Perfect Lover, Hot As Ice, Naked (I Got A Plan) and Pharrell Williams duet Why Should I Be Sad, which the hip-hop star also wrote and co-produced.
Top new producer Nate `Danjahandz’ Hills produced four of the album’s 12 tracks. Bloodshy & Avant produced another four tracks and in-demand hitmaker Kara DioGuardi produced one tune, Heaven and Earth.

CATE BLANCHETT has signed on to star in an eight-hour adaptation of WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE’s plays to launch her stint as co-artistic director of the Sydney Theatre Company in her native Australia next year (08).
The ambitious War of the Roses production, which will feature all eight of Shakespeare’s Civil War plays, will be part of next January’s Sydney Festival.
The Elizabeth star and her husband, writer Andrew Upton, take over at the STC as joint artistic directors in the New Year (08).
Already, the 2008 theatre season has proven fruitful for the STC and for Blanchett - the actress has received financial support from fashion house Armani and car maker Audi.
Giorgio Armani has been named as the patron of the theatre.

JENNIFER ANISTON almost blew the cover off the plot of her new movie after leaving her script behind after a restaurant date.
The forgetful former Friends star was discussing her top secret new film Management with co-star Steve Zahn and a producer over lunch at top restaurant Olea in Portland, Oregon.
And when she got up to leave, she left the film’s script on her seat.
A waitress came across the papers later in the day and handed them to her manager, who promptly contacted Aniston’s aides to let them know about the mishap.

Supermodel-turned-peace activist CHRISTIE BRINKLEY fought back tears at the United Nations in New York on Thursday (11Oct07) as she spoke out against the war in Iraq.
The former wife of Billy Joel, looking bookish in spectacles and a smart suit, addressed the Global Security Institute’s meeting against nuclear weapons, explaining that former U.S. National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice terrified Americans with her 2002 warnings about a nuclear attack from Iraq.

This blind fear prevented us from approaching the necessary task of preventing proliferation through rational means, and war has been the result." Western fan ROBERT DUVALL is developing a new period TV drama about the riders of the Pony Express.
The Open Range star has always been fascinated by America’s primitive telegram service, which featured young boys racing across the country on horseback to deliver crucial letters, deeds and documents.
And now, through his Butchers Run Films company, he’s come up with a new venture for U.S. cable channel AMC, in which he’ll star.
He says, "We’re gonna develop on the Pony Express from 100 years ago which was very fascinating. The bosses would put up a sign saying, `Riders under 21, orphans preferred,’ because the work was so arduous. Buffalo Bill was 14-years-old when he rode for the Express.
"It was a very interesting part of our history that only lasted 18 months, when the telegraph knocked it out. It was a pretty interesting time." Duvall’s westerns have enjoyed a lot of success on the AMC channel - his most recent series, Broken Trail, won the actor and co-star Thomas Haden Church Emmy Awards last month (Sep07).

LATEST: Former U.S. Vice President-turned-environmental warrior AL GORE is to hand over the $1.5 million (GBP750,000) he’ll receive as the latest Nobel Prize winner to a green charity in California.
Ironically, the An Inconvenient Truth star was planning to meet with officials at The Alliance For Climate Protection in Palo Alto, California when he discovered he had been honoured on Thursday night (11Oct07).
At a press conference staged at the ACP’s headquarters on Friday (12Oct07), the global warming activist said, "I’m ofcourse deeply honoured to receive this award.
"(My wife) Tipper and I will go to Oslo (Norway) and I will accept this award on behalf of all of those who have been working so long and so hard to try to get the message out about this planetary emergency.
"This is a chance to elevate global consciousness about the challenges that we face now." He then announced he and his wife had decided to hand over the proceeds from the honour to The Alliance For Climate Protection.
Gore is the first American to win the Nobel Prize since former President Jimmy Carter.

California’s Attorney General JERRY BROWN has confirmed he launched a massive investigation into the death of ANNA NICOLE SMITH with a dawn raid on her state-based physicians’ homes.
WENN has already reported that the late model/actress’ psychiatrist, Dr.
Khristine Eroshevich, was among those served with a search warrant at her home on Friday (12Oct07), and now Brown has revealed the early morning raid was just the start of a thorough new investigation.
At a press conference on Friday, the Attorney General said, "The investigation started when I reviewed the fact that all these different dangerous drugs and controlled substances were part of the death of Anna Nicole Smith, and I learned that these were California doctors and California prescriptions." Smith died of a fatal overdose in a Florida hotel room back in February (07), and although the death was ruled accidental, Brown isn’t convinced there’s no one to blame.
He explains, "To get a search warrant you need probable cause that a crime has been committed… If a judge issues a search warrant to go into somebody’s home there’s some serious evidence.
"I’m not going to speculate on what the charges would be, but we do know…
that there’s someone’s who’s dead and their body, upon investigation, is full of controlled substances and combinations of drugs that turned out to be illegal.
"We’re looking into a number of possible violations." Brown refused to go into detail about the investigation but reports suggest six California locations were raided on Friday morning, including the offices and homes of two doctors.
Detectives found 600 pills in Smith’s hotel suite on the day she died - 450 were muscle relaxants and 11 were prescription drugs.
Dr Eroshevich was travelling with the actress/model in the days before she died.
