CLAPTON: ‘I SURVIVED DRUGS FOR A REASON’
ERIC CLAPTON refuses to accept he is "lucky" to have survived years of drug addiction - insisting he was meant to live through his demons.
The rocker was a regular and heavy drug user during the 1970s and 80s and attempted suicide during severe bouts of depression. But he is convinced he lived for a reason.
Clapton tells talk show host Larry King, "I don’t know if I believe in luck.
I think I’m very fortunate in being at the right place at the right time. But I suppose I’ve had to believe, in the end, that I was brought through it all for a purpose. That’s what I choose to think."
