Hollywood heartthrob JUDE LAW has been cleared of claims he assaulted a photographer.
The actor was arrested last month (Sep07) after allegedly attacking a paparazzo outside his London home. He was questioned by police and released on bail.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has decided not to pursue charges against him.
Law tells People.com, "The police have told me that they and the CPS have examined the photographer’s allegation extremely carefully and made the decision that there is no further action to be taken.
"Of course I am delighted to be vindicated." A police statement confirms, "No further action will be taken and he will not be required to return on bail." The star always disputed the allegations against him. His lawyer said in a statement last month, "Mr. Law provided the police with a statement regarding his denials of allegations by a ‘paparazzi’ photographer against him and made his own allegations concerning the photographer."

LATEST: PAMELA ANDERSON isn’t pregnant - according to a new magazine report.
On Wednesday (10Oct07) it was claimed the former Baywatch babe is two months pregnant with new husband Rick Salomon’s baby.
A source told In Touch Weekly magazine she discovered she was expecting a child on 29 September (07) - the same day she and Salomon applied for a wedding license.
But OK! magazine claims she can’t be pregnant - because the couple were at a Las Vegas party on Wednesday evening drinking alcohol.

LIZA MINNELLI has offered her support to BRITNEY SPEARS, insisting the troubled star is suffering a "disease".
The diva has battled drug addictions in the past, so can sympathise with Spears.
Minnelli says, "I just feel horrible for (Britney Spears). You know, she’s got a disease. And when you have a disease, you cannot help it. So it’s not your fault, but you’re responsible for it. I just feel so bad for her because I don’t think anybody really understands what’s going on." But the Cabaret star is baffled by the publicity Spears’ plight has earned her. She tells Florida newspaper the St Petersburg Times, "The way the press is now, she’s getting so much attention. Somebody said to me the other day, ‘God, you have to go to jail to get a good review.’ It’s an interesting period.
"They used to have clauses and contracts where you can’t get bad publicity or you’d get fired. But now bad publicity is good publicity. I just keep working and don’t think about it much."

LATEST: BRITNEY SPEARS failed to show up at court in Los Angeles on Thursday morning (11Oct07) after her legal team called an emergency hearing into her child custody case.
The pop star was keen to win overnight visits with her young sons Sean Preston and Jayden James after losing physical custody of the tots to ex-husband Kevin Federline earlier this month (Oct07).
Sources claimed Spears was determined to show up for the hearing with Federline’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, but as the early morning court deadline came and went, the pop star was still at home in Marina Del Rey, California.
In her absence, Spears’ lawyers have asked Commissioner Scott Gordon for overnights, partly because she’s passed all her drug tests.
Kaplan is expected to fight a new ruling, claiming the custody order is only one week old.
If the Toxic singer had shown up at court, she would have been greeted by a throng of media, paparazzi and family values protestors, one waving a huge banner that read ‘Ask Jesus To Save You Now’.

A crazed UMA THURMAN fan has been charged with stalking the actress over a two year period by New York police.
Jack Jordan is accused of behaving bizarrely towards the star, threatening to kill himself if the Kill Bill actress began dating another man.
He is also accused of presenting Thurman with odd drawings, including a cartoon sketch of himself "walking along the edge of a razor blade", and sent a letter reading, "I feel afraid that if I see you out again with another man, I will want to kill myself, maybe even after we meet." According to police documents obtained by TMZ.com, Jordan "has been sleeping in his car on (Thurman’s) block" and is in love with the star, believing they are "fated to be together".
He has charged with stalking, aggravated harassment and attempted coercion, and is being held on $10,000 (£5,000) bail. He was arrested last Friday (05Oct07).
Jordan was released from a mental institution earlier this year (07).

HARRY POTTER author J.K. ROWLING is suing a community group in India after it recreated the fictional Hogwarts School for a festival.
Rowling and Warner Brothers - which controls the rights to the boy wizard franchise in India - have mounted a legal battle against the Kolkata organisation, seeking two million rupees ($50,000; £25,000) in damages for breach of copyright.
The group is alleged to have erected the 1.2 million Indian rupees ($30,000; £15,000) structure in the shape of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the four-day Hindu festival of Goddess Durga, celebrating the victory of good over evil.
Santanu Biswas, secretary of FD Block Puja Committee of Salt Lake - the group at the centre of the allegations - insists they did not realise they had contravened any copyrights, but will destroy the structure if necessary.
He says, "We had no clue that we had to seek permission from the author. Our lawyer in Delhi will appear before the court tomorrow to explain our stand.
"We did not have any commercial motive behind this. The immense popularity of Harry Potter prompted us to choose this as a theme to get more footfalls for our pandals (temporary structures for the festival)." "If they are still not satisfied, we will dismantle the pandal." The Durja Puja festival - the biggest Hindu festeival in east India - is set to begin on 17 October (07).

Actress DEMI MOORE has laughed off claims she has spent $3 million (£1.5 million) on cosmetic surgery to improve her looks.
The 44-year-old has been accused of undergoing multiple procedures to retain her youthful body.
But Moore insists she has never had liposuction or a facelift.
She says, "I was in getting a facial recently and there were reports that I had been in there for countless hours, saying I’d had surgical procedures.
"Am I going to sue? Do I really care?"

MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ will start her six month jail sentence on Christmas Eve after she has finished work on her new movie.
The Lost Actress was handed the jail sentence after admitting violating her probation for driving under the influence.
She was told 24 December was the latest date she could hand herself in at a Los Angeles County jail - and a message on her MySpace page reveals she will do just that, after she had jetted to New Zealand to shooting a new film alongside Sigourney Weaver, The message reads, "Michelle will still be leaving for New Zealand to film James Cameron’s Avatar and will then report back to turn herself in to serve her sentence on Christmas Eve. Michelle is a survivor and is always growing from her experiences, and this will be no different. Nothing will bring her down, especially not something like this."

HOWARD K. STERN is considering writing his own book about his role in ANNA NICOLE SMITH’s life and death, to right the ‘wrongs’ he has read about him.
Stern is currently involved in legal action against journalist Rita Cosby, over her book which alleges Stern fed Smith drugs and had a gay affair with Birkhead.
The lawyer insists he would never make money from his late lover’s name - but may be tempted to release his own account.
He tells talk show host Larry King, "I had said before there’s no way in the world I would ever do that. Anna didn’t like people making money off of her in life. I know she wouldn’t approve of it in death. But the only way that I would do something like that is just to set everything straight.
"(If I did) It would be after these lawsuits, and after everything comes out, it’s possible. But right now I don’t have any plans."

LATEST: MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ has reassured fans she is "as positive as ever" after being handed a six-month prison sentence.
The Lost actress was told she must spend Christmas in jail after she violating her probation for driving under the influence. She had admitted failing to complete community service and submitting a false document to show she carried out one day of community work on 25 September (07).
A message on the Rodriguez’ MySpace page by her webmaster insists, "Yes, it’s true. 180 days in county jail. That is her sentence. But all is well. She is and will be just fine. Just hours after this ruling, she’s as positive as ever." Rodriguez must report to a Los Angeles County jail to begin the sentence by 24 December (07). She must also complete 30 days of road clean-up duty.

WESTLIFE star MARK FEEHILY has hit back at accusations the band are too old to sell records - insisting their new album is their best yet.
The Irish singer is glad the pop band have gone back to their pop roots rather than trying to sound like a more grown-up version of themselves.

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE ran screaming from a recording session in Los Angeles, after taping their last album in a haunted studio.
The band were booked into the infamous Paramour Mansion to record 2006’s The Black Parade.
Frontman Gerard Way reveals, "A lot of crazy stuff happened in the Paramour Mansion. Me and Mikey (Way) were in the kitchen making coffee and this door slammed in front of us. It was this door to the basement that nobody ever went into and we just ran like girls.
"There were lots of moments like that, where you’d hear people scream faucets would draw baths for people, you’d hear conversations and it was unnaturally cold."

Veteran rocker NEIL YOUNG feels lucky to have reached his 60s, after suffering from a spate of illness that should have killed him.
The singer suffered polio as a child, is epileptic and had surgery for a brain aneurysm in 2005.
Now 61, he says, "It’s a long battle. I’m 61 years old and there are lots of things starting to crop up.
"Different parts of my body don’t work the way they used to. And there’s pain and stuff. The older you get, the closer to the end of your life you get. It seems like there are a lot of things to do now."

THE ENEMY bassist ANDY HOPKINS is nursing a damaged knee after diving offstage at a gig in Scotland.
The rocker hurled himself into the crowd in Aberdeen last week (04Oct07).
Frontman Tom Clarke reveals, "Andy was a madhead and dived into the crowd and smashed his knee. He either hit his knee somewhere on the barrier or someone woke up with a very sore head the next morning." Earlier this year (07) Hopkins was hospitalised after his drink was spiked at a festival. He said at the time: "I can’t remember any of it but the lads said I was trying to headbutt cars and jumped out of the van and headbutted the concrete.
"Then I was being sick in a corner - they had to call an ambulance. I think I scared them."

HOWARD K. STERN was convinced he was the father of ANNA NICOLE SMITH’s daughter DANNIELYN, and was "shocked" when a DNA test proved him wrong.
Smith’s ex-boyfriend, photographer Larry Birkhead, was found to be true father when the test results were revealed earlier this year (07).
Stern tells talk show host Larry King, "We really believed that Dannielynn was conceived in December and if she was, she would have been mine. And I honestly believed it.
"We had the timing wrong. I was shocked. I was shocked, but I was thinking of Dannielynn. And I do want the best for Dannielynn. My feelings for Danni really hadn’t changed. And from that point forward, I committed myself to work with Larry to do whatever I can to make sure that she has a happy life.
