The Norwegian hitmakers behind chart-toppers for NE-YO, RIHANNA and BEYONCE were honoured with seven coveted Songwriter Of The Year prizes at Wednesday’s (10Oct07) 27th annual American Society Of Composers, Authors And Publishers (ASCAP) Awards in London.
Producers Tor Hermansen and Mikkel Eriksen, collectively known as Stargate, earned the title for penning some of the most performed songs of the past year.
These included Ne-Yo’s So Sick, which was also honoured as ASCAP’s Song Of The Year, Rihanna’s Unfaithful, Kelly Clarkson’s Walk Away and Beyonce Knowles’ Irreplaceable.
Other awards recipients at The Grosvenor House Hotel ceremony included new acts Bat For Lashes, aka Natasha Khan, who received the ASCAP Vanguard Award for her debut album Fur And Gold, and The View, who were honoured with the ASCAP College Award for their platinum-selling debut album Hats Off To The Buskers.
Coldplay, Dido and U2 also picked up Songwriter Of The Year honours, with two songs each.

Actress ANNE HECHE has developed such a love for the wild and rugged after shooting hit new show MEN IN TREES, she’s bought herself a log cabin in remote Vancouver, Canada.
The former Ally McBeal star plays a self-help writer who trades her native New York for Alaska in the series, and now she’s bought a cabin in the woods just like her character, Marin First.
She says, "I have so fallen in love with not only our show, but Marin and I just bought myself a log cabin and I live on an acre of land."

LATEST: BRITNEY SPEARS has lost her bid to alter the conditions of her child custody arrangement, despite winning an emergency hearing in Los Angeles on Thursday morning (11Oct07).
The troubled pop star failed to show up in court to face Commissioner Scott Gordon and ex-husband Kevin Federline’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, amid a confusion of media interest and misfiled paperwork.
The court revealed early Thursday morning that paperwork had not been filed properly and, as a result, the hearing had not been scheduled, but Gordon agreed to meet with the parties, reportedly telling them to "go and get a cup of coffee and work it out".
In her absence, Spears’ lawyers had asked Commissioner Scott Gordon for overnights, partly because she’s passed all her drug tests.
Kaplan fought a new ruling, claiming the custody order is only one week old.
Commissioner Gordon refused to reverse the decision he made a week ago when he gave Federline physical custody of his kids, set the custody parameters and demanded Spears undergo a series of random drug and alcohol tests.
Meanwhile, Thursday’s court hearing wasn’t the only thing Spears missed - she also failed to show for a scheduled audition, leaving 50 dancers standing outside the Millennium Dance Studio in North Hollywood.
Spears was expected to check out the dancers for upcoming appearances and dates. The auditions will be rescheduled.
As WENN went to press Spears had mysteriously just turned up at court - hours after her attorney’s impromptu hearing had taken place.
The singer drove to court in her white convertible Mercedes Benz and refused to get out of her car until all paparazzi crowding the entrance were cleared.
Camera-shy Britney was then directed to an underground parking garage. She again refused to step out of her vehicle when she spotted a persistent photographer waiting to take a snapshot of her. She only agreed to leave her car when the snapper had taken off his camera and placed it on the floor by his feet.

KATE HUDSON’s new boyfriend DAX SHEPHARD makes an appearance as an extra in the actress’ directorial debut CUTLASS.
Hudson shot the short film as part of the 2007 Glamour Magazine Reel Moments project.

Actress TERI HATCHER has hit out at the movie industry for not making enough family-friendly films.
The Desperate Housewives star is fed up with not being able to find suitable movies to watch at the cinema with her nine-year-old daughter Emerson Rose.
She says, "I am one of those moms who is disgruntled with the film industry.
"Every Friday, we think, ‘Wouldn’t it be great to go to the movies?’ But you go down there, and 13 of the 14 films are PG-13 or R.
"It’s really difficult if you don’t believe in super-speeding up your child’s rearing." So Hatcher opts to watch television with Emerson instead.
She adds, "My daughter and I watch cooking shows all the time."

MADONNA is close to signing a money-spinning new deal which will net her $120 million (£60 million) over 10 years.
The pop superstar will receive a combination of cash and stocks in multi-media group Live Nation in return for giving executives the rights to sell three studio albums, promote concert tours and license her name.
It’s the first deal of its kind.
Live Nation has promoted Madonna’s concerts for years and has grossed more than $400 million (£200 million) from her performances, according to estimates.

GEORGE CLOONEY is in negotiations to direct LEONARDO DiCAPRIO in a movie adaptation of BEAU WILLIMON’s play FARRAGUT NORTH.
The two stars are looking to co-produce the project through their production companies Apian Way and Smoke House.
DiCaprio has been attached to the film for a while; Clooney is also considering appearing in the movie, according to trade paper Daily Variety.
In the film, DiCaprio will star as a idealistic communications director for a rising political figure, who finds himself tangled up in intrigue and spin.
Meanwhile, Jake Gyllenhaal will play the political story’s protagonist when Farragut North hits Broadway next year (08), for what will be the Brokeback Mountain star’s New York theatre debut.

TROY star ERIC BANA will play the villain in the new STAR TREK movie.
The Aussie actor has signed on to play Nero in Lost creator J.J. Abrams’ much-anticipated new film - a prequel to the Star Trek TV series of the 1960s.
Bana will join Heroes star Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana and Anton Yelchin on the cast of the new sci-fi film, which will also feature Star Trek regular Leonard Nimoy.
The film is expected to hit cinemas on Christmas Day, 2008.

PEARL HARBOR star JOSH HARTNETT is hoping to train with American football team the Tennessee Titans to prepare for a part in a news sporting movie.
The actor has landed the lead in the film adaptation of Don DeLillo’s book End Zone and he’s hoping to call on advice from longtime neighbour Matt Burke, the Titans’ assistant coach.
Hartnett says, "I’m gonna go and hang out on the sidelines and see what it’s like." But he insists he’s not a complete novice when it comes to the gridiron: "I played football when I was a kid but ended up tearing a ligament and kind of quitting."

PENELOPE CRUZ has been spotted kissing and cuddling fellow Spaniard JAVIER BARDEM, just months after laughing off reports the pair are dating.
The couple, who are in talks to star in upcoming movie musical Nine together, were photographed emracing in the sea during a romantic vacation in the Maldives in the Indian Ocean.
Cruz and Bardem were also "very touchy-feely" at the New York Film Festival recently, according to PageSix.com.

Sexy Latina EVA MENDES used hypnotism to conquer her crippling fear of spiders.
The actress admits that up to a year ago she couldn’t bear to be in the same room as even the smallest arachnid - and had to insist on someone killing the creepy crawly.
She explains, "Ever since I was a little girl if I saw one, it would be a physical reaction and I’d freak out.
"If I saw one I’d have to have somebody kill it and then I couldn’t take their word for it, I had to see the dead carcass.
"It was getting in the way and if I’d see one in the room at night… and someone couldn’t get to it and it kind of got lost, I couldn’t fall asleep in the room… It was psycho territory." So Mendes visited a hypnotist, and was a little disappointed she didn’t get a pocket watch out and dangle it before her eyes.
She adds, "You lie down, you relax and then she takes you through this kind of relaxation thing and then the cool thing is you think it’s only three minutes and then the whole hour went by.
"I don’t know what she did in there but it’s helped. Now, I’ll see one… and I’ll just be like, ‘Cool, what’s up…?’ and we’re cool with each other." The actress is so impressed she’s keen to return to the hypnotist to see if she can iron out any other personal problems: "I wanna do it for everything; I’m like, ‘Can she help me with road rage or midnight snacking or, like, foul language?"

Cult band S**TDISCO have called-off six concerts after bassist JOEL STONE contracted Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome.
The Scottish rockers were forced to cancel shows in England and Spain, because Stone is constantly throwing up.
The band writes on its MySpace webpage: "Joel is out of hospital and back on his feet, but we’ve had to cancel our shows… He needs some rest and we need to get our heads together.
"He’s been diagnosed with Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome, which seems fairly self-explanatory, but at least it has a name now."

Cult rockers MORNING RUNNER have split due to record label pressure to follow up the commercial failure of their 2006 debut album with a hit.
The British band disagreed with bosses at their label Parlophone on the direction they should take after last year’s Wilderness Is Paradise Now debut.
Announcing the split on MySpace.com, the group writes: "The first record was a relative commercial failure and heaped pressure on us to have a follow up hit record.
"We tried to ignore this and write the songs that we wanted. However, having been encouraged by the label to go away and experiment, they made a U-turn and decided that the music wasn’t commercially viable.
"We had a couple of days apart to think through what we wanted to do next.
When we came to sit down and talk about stuff, Tom (Derrett, bass) and Fields (Chris Wheatcroft, drums) came to the decision that they’d had enough.
"This wasn’t what Matt (Greener, vocals) and Ali (Clewer, drums) wanted particularly, but obviously they respect their decision and came to the agreement that with the loss of Tom and Fields they should call it a day."

THE POLICE reunion has claimed the top grossing tour of 2007 after the trio’s 31 sell-out shows played to 804,000 fans and raked in $91.3 million (£45.6 million).
Country star Kenny Chesney and husband and wife team Tim McGraw and Faith Hill came in second and third with $62.5 million (£31.25 million) and $38.2 million (£19.1 million) respectively.

Disgraced AMERICAN IDOL star COREY CLARK faces a year in jail and a fine of up to $150,000 (£75,000) after pleading guilty to violating a restraining order taken out by his estranged wife.
The R&B singer admitted trespassing on his father-in-law’s property in 2006 in an Arizona court last week (ends05Oct07).
Clark also confessed to a charge of "aggravated harassment, involving domestic violence", according to website TMZ.com.
In August (07), he was fined $850 (£425) and placed on two years probation after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia at a hearing in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
