WAHLBERG’S TOUGH COP WAS BASED ON HIS MOTHER
The tough guy cop that earned MARK WAHLBERG his first Oscar nomination for THE DEPARTED was based on the actor’s mother.
The movie star admits he used his tough-talking, no-nonsense mum for the basis of Sean Dignam.
He reveals, "It’s loosely based on my mother… She’s crazy, man, and she likes to put me in my place.
"I’ve had some success over the past few years but every time I come home or every time she comes to see me she reminds me that I am no better than anybody else.
"(It’s tough) when you’re mother’s in front of your friends and she’s going, ‘You’re not a f**king movie star, I don’t give a f**k who you think you are.’"
