MIRREN: ‘QUEEN COSTUMES MADE ME WEEP’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:32 am

DAME HELEN MIRREN cried when she saw the costumes for her THE QUEEN movie role - fearing she couldn’t play a woman who wore tweed.
The Oscar-winning actress did not relish wearing sensible shoes and head scarves for the role as the British monarch, because she is a "girlie woman who loves dressing up".
She says, "When I came across the costume fitting I literally cried.
"I’d just done Elizabeth I - that had been a trip to fantasy land. I dressed myself up like a Christmas tree. "To go from that to the brown shoes and tweed skirts, I found it very hard to be someone who chose to wear those clothes. I thought I would never be able to understand this woman."
