ETHERIDGE NAMES ALBUM AFTER POST-CHEMOTHERAPY PEACE OF MIND
Singer MELISSA ETHERIDGE named her hit new album THE AWAKENING after the "amazing peace" she found following days of constant agony brought on by chemotherapy.
Etheridge was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004 and was surprised to find peace of mind after painful hospital treatment.
She says, "When I got diagnosed with breast cancer, it knocked me on my butt, literally and figuratively. I came out of it with a new perspective, a new spirituality, a new meaning for life.
"While on chemotherapy, I would sit there for days and days and days. I couldn’t read, I couldn’t watch TV, I couldn’t do anything because it hurt. I would just lay there.
"I thought everything you could think and went through my life two or three times. I ran out of things to think about.
"All of a sudden, I found this amazing peace that I’d never gotten to. I had this awakening."
