MANSON CONCERT HALTED BY FIRE SCARE

A MARILYN MANSON concert in New Zealand had to be stopped on Wednesday (3Oct07) after a smoke machine sparked a fire scare.
Just four songs into the gig at Auckland Town Hall, the plug was pulled on the shock rocker and the venue evacuated.
Fire crews were called, but they discovered that alarms had been triggered by dry ice machines. According to website Blabbermouth.net, Manson was allowed to finish his performance.

WAHLBERG TAKES HOLLYWOOD BREAK

Actor MARK WAHLBERG is halting his Hollywood career to spend more time with his young family.
The Boogie Nights star is so desperate to spend more time with girlfriend Rhea Durham, daughter Ella and son Michael, he is willing to turn down lucrative movie roles.
He says, "I’ve been focused on me for a while now. They’re my priority. I’ve a few years to work hard and then to make a film every 18 months would be nice."

GARNER FULFILS THEATRE DREAM

JENNIFER GARNER is fulfilling a lifelong ambition by taking to the Broadway stage.
Garner will star alongside Kevin Kline in a revival of Cyrano De Bergerac, which opens in New York on 1 November (07).
She says, "Theatre’s always been my absolute dream of all dreams, and all this other stuff that I’ve done has been accidental.
"I only ended up auditioning for television and movies because I was understudying a Turgenev play on Broadway. I was so broke that, when I got a mini-series, I had to take it, and was so ashamed because I was such a snob.
"I couldn’t pass this up. Working with Kevin Kline, being in New York in the fall. I get so excited."

SLATER REGRETS NEVER WORKING WITH MILLS

Hollywood actor CHRISTIAN SLATER regrets never acting with his icon SIR JOHN MILLS before his death in 2005.
Slater, 38, was desperate to work with the veteran actor - but was denied the chance after Mills died of chest infection, aged 97.
He says, "Sir John said he admired my body of work and expressed how he would like to meet me. But each time we set a date something happened. And then he died on me."

McCARTNEY’S FORMER BANDMATE REUNITES WITH CHILDREN

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY’s former bandmember DENNY LAINE has reunited with his estranged children after 11 years.
Denny, who formed Wings in the early 1970s with McCartney, gradually lost contact with his two children - son Laine, 34, and singer daughter Heidi, 33 after he divorced his wife Jo-Jo in 1980.
But just before Jo-Jo died last October (06), after a long battle with liver cancer, she expressed her wish for her ex-husband to reunite with his children.
And Denny met his daughter recently.
Heidi says, "Dad came over to Liverpool to play at the Cavern Club and we went to see him. It had been 11 years since we last met but it felt exciting and comfortable, like it was meant to be.
"Unfortunately, earlier that day Dad found out his brother had just died, so we all kind of came together to support each other. It makes a person realise life is too short not to be together."

GERVAIS PLAYS FOOL FOR DE NIRO

British comedian RICKY GERVAIS tried to impress his icon ROBERT DE NIRO on the set of movie STARDUST by telling silly jokes.
The funnyman admits he was so nervous about meeting the Hollywood star, he started to fool around.
He says, "It was fantastic, he has been my favourite actor for 20 years. It was the first time I’ve ever been starstruck, so I decided to muck around and try and put him off."

The actress, who plays espionage expert Chloe O’Brian, was left stunned when the die hard devotee made his confession to her.
Speaking to promote the U.K. DVD launch of season six, she says, "I’m kind of amazed at how many people come up to me and say stuff.
"People want to tell you their experience of watching the DVD’s - ‘I watched it for 48 hours straight… I missed the birth of my second child because I was busy watching it.’ "And I think, that’s really nice!"

TV chef JAMIE OLIVER is planning to take on Hollywood, after starring in new British movie RATATOUILLE.
The celebrity cook makes his big-screen debut as a morose restaurant inspector in the Disney animated blockbuster - about a rat who moves to Paris to become a top chef.
He says, "My main reason for doing this film was my kids - I know they’re going to love it. I think it’s going to be big in the U.K., the next Finding Nemo.
"Playing the part of a bored, glum restaurant inspector was easy - I just thought of my accountant."

SELLECK’S TOO FOND OF CATTLE TO BECOME A PROPER COWBOY

TOM SELLECK’s dream of becoming a cattle rancher has hit a setback - he can’t kill his cows and they’re too fat for sex.
The actor owns an avocado farm in rural California and when he learned the ranch came with two cows, he felt sure he could become a cowboy.
He says, "We were originally thinking, ‘Gee, we’ll have our own beef,’ but something you learn when you become a rancher - you have to kill ‘em to eat ‘em, and we named ‘em Gertie and Birdy.
"So we said we’ll have more… and we sent them over to my friend David Murdoch’s ranch down the road because he had a big cattle operation… and we put ‘em in with the bull.
"But we fed them so much they were too fat to mount. So Gertie and Birdy never had kids."

CLIFF RICHARD’S DESPAIR OVER NOTTING HILL ROLE

Actor/singer SIR CLIFF RICHARD has one movie regret - he wishes he had played the lead in HUGH GRANT comedy NOTTING HILL.
The veteran crooner, 66, would love to have starred in the 1999 romantic comedy, but had to settle for covering the film’s hit song When You Say Nothing At All instead.
He says, "Ever since I saw Notting Hill, this song got under my skin.
"How I’d have loved to have played the Hugh Grant role. That was never going to happen - so I’ve sung the song instead." BABYSHAMBLES ALMOST SCRAPPED ALBUM

British rockers BABYSHAMBLES almost scrapped their latest album because of a bust-up between frontman PETE DOHERTY and producer STEPHEN STREET.
The pair fell out over the group’s partying lifestyle - and bassist Drew McConnell had to beg Street not to quit the project.
McConnell says, "There were a couple of times when I found myself running down a stairwell after Stephen. I had to drag him back to the canteen to talk." Drummer Adam Ficek adds, "Did I think it might not ever get done? Yeah. They were difficult times. There were a lot of heart-to-hearts between Stephen and Pete. Each time Stephen was about to quit, they’d sit down and have a chat.
"Stephen wouldn’t compromise at all. He was like, ‘I’m going to get what I need to make a good album, otherwise I’m not going to do it.’"

JOY DIVISION WERE ASKED TO REFORM FOR NEW BIOPIC PREMIERE

Former JOY DIVISION bassist PETER HOOK was stunned to be asked to reform the band recently - lead singer IAN CURTIS has been dead for 27 years.
Hook was asked if the band could perform at the U.S. premiere of Control, a new movie about Joy Division frontman Curtis.
He explains, "Someone from the film’s U.S. distributor’s office phoned up saying that the New York premiere was on September 25 and would Joy Division play? "I replied, ‘Well, the last I heard, the lead singer was dead but I’ll give them a ring and see if anything has changed.’" Curtis committed suicide in 1980.

WILSON MAKES FIRST PUBLIC APPEARANCE

OWEN WILSON attended the Los Angeles premiere of his new movie THE DARJEELING LTD on Thursday (4Oct07), his first public appearance since his suicide attempt in August.
The actor avoided the red carpet outside the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre and entered through a private entrance, surprising guests and co-stars including Natalie Portman, Anjelica Huston and Jason Schwartzman.
When Wes Anderson introduced a healthy-looking Wilson to the audience as "my best friend", he was met with applause.
Huston later told reporters, "I have to say, I have a crush on Owen." Schwartzman added, "Owen is doing very well and he is with us tonight, and I love him."

JENNIFER LOPEZ confirmed she is pregnant on Wednesday night (3Oct07) when a wardrobe malfunction accidentally revealed her baby bump.
The singer has refused to announce the big news and her representative categorically denied it last month (Sep07).
As rumours intensified, Lopez was expected to make a big announcement during her show at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Sunday - but she ruined the surprise during the first concert of her U.S. tour in Connecticut, when a loose fitting top blew free, exposing her rounded tummy, in full view of fans and captured on film.
The child will be Lopez’s first and her husband Marc Anthony’s fourth. He has three kids from previous relationships.

British singer KATIE MELUA is considering cookery classes in an bid to improve her culinary skills.
The 23-year-old says she relies on her mother’s guidance in the kitchen because she is a terrible cook.
She says, "I’m probably the worst cook ever. I’ve never properly moved out of home so I’ve always gotten by with my mum’s cooking, I once fried shepherd’s pie, which was pretty awful.
