BRITNEY SPEARS’ cousin and former assistant has moved out of the Malibu, California home she has been sharing with the pop star - and into an apartment in the same complex as the TOXIC singer’s estranged mother.
Alli Sims was spotted packing up the last of her belongings and leaving Spears’ home on Wednesday (03Oct07), as her troubled cousin checked into a Beverly Hills hotel amid a child custody battle with her ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Sims insists the move is something she has been eyeing for a while: "It was not sudden… I’ve been planning this for six months. I’ve just been doing it slowly. I’ve had an apartment all along." And Sims, who is embarking on her own pop career, insists the fact that she’ll be a neighbour of Lynn Spears in her new Marina Del Rey, California home is a coincidence.
She adds, "It’s not like I’m moving in with her."

MICHAEL CAINE has turned his country retreat in England into a high-tech fortress - not unlike the one his dastardly character lives in the SLEUTH remake.
In the new Kenneth Branagh thriller, Caine plays paranoid millionaire Andrew Wyke, who wires up his home to catch a crook, Jude Law - and though the veteran actor isn’t a "murderous psychotic" he admits he’s not a technophobe when it comes to home security.
He explains, "I have that kind of household myself. I’m a big technology freak and I’m always trying to get up to date with the latest and the clearest high definition televisions and computers and everything.
"My house has a sort of similar thing with this character’s home - if you come near my house at night, all the lights will go on and you’ll get a nice coloured digital photograph of yourself in the morning at the police station.
It’s all on computers inside but that is just modern technology guarding your house."

Austrian-born film producer and opera singer ELFI VON DASSANOWSKY has died three months after having her leg amputated to stop an infection.
The 83-year-old suffered an embolism while holidaying in Kona, Hawaii in July (07) and had to be flown to Queen’s Hospital in Honolulu, where the surgery took place.
Von Dassanowsky became a major independent filmmaker when she moved from Germany to Hollywood and worked with movie mogul Otto Preminger.
She has been named a Living Legacy by the Women’s International Center and has received the UNESCO Mozart Medal and the French Chevalier Of The Order Of The Arts And Letters.
She has been hailed a "renaissance woman" and a "film pioneer", and the Cambridge Biographical Encyclopedia refers to her as a "leading figure in post-war European culture".
Von Dassanowsky died in Los Angeles on 2 October (07) of heart failure.

Former U.S. Vice President AL GORE’s global warming documentary AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH has been given the green light to be shown in British schools following a high court battle.
Concerned parent Stewart Brown lobbied to ban the film from U.K. schools, claiming it was biased politically.
In court, he told High Court Judge Michael Burton, "I want my children to have the best education possible, free from bias and political spin, and Mr.
Gore’s film falls far short of the standard." But Judge Burton ruled that An Inconvenient Truth should be shown in schools - as long as teachers provided a balance to the film’s political undertones.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s government has sent copies of Gore’s hard-hitting climate control film to 3,500 British schools with a view to educating teenagers about the perils of global warming.

Celebrity fashion designer ANAND JON has been indicted on 59 counts of sexual assault involving 20 women and girls.
Indian-born Jon is accused of targetting females between the ages of 14 and 27 from November 2002 to March 2007, according to court documents unsealed in Los Angeles on Thursday (04Oct07).
The 33-year-old was initially charged with more than 40 counts of sexual assault, including rape, sexual battery and committing lewd acts on a minor when he was arrested in March (07).
Jon, who is being held without bail, pleaded not guilty to the earlier charges.
The new indictment adds two more victims to the original case, bringing the total to 20. Seven of the females are from California, while the remainder hail from eight states and two countries.
Jon faces life behind bars if he is found guilty.

American shoe designer STEVE MADDEN is celebrating after his wife WENDY gave birth to twins on Wednesday (03Oct07).
The baby boy and girl are the 50-year-old’s first kids.
In a statement released on Thursday (04Oct07), Madden’s spokesman Mitchell Fink, "Jack Madden and his sister, Stevie Madden, were born yesterday in New York City. Mother and children are doing fine."

HAIRSPRAY star BRITTANY SNOW will forever be grateful to actresses SOPHIA BUSH and ARIELLE KEBBEL for helping her get over a devastating eating disorder.
The 21-year-old actress was an anorexic in her teens and at one point weighed a skeletal 85 pounds (38.5 kilograms).
She was still in recovery when she started work on 2006 movie John Tucker Must Die with Bush and Kebbel, who helped watch out for her when she was asked to diet for an underwear scene.
She says, "After nearly a month of treatment, I left a few days early to go straight to the set of John Tucker Must Die. I had gained about 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms). I was 120 pounds (54.4 kilograms), which isn’t bad.
"But I can understand why the producers wanted me in shape for a scene in my underwear. They were nice about it. They hired a trainer and suggested a diet.
"Thank goodness for my co-stars Sophia Bush and Arielle Kebbel. I told them, ‘You have to look out for me, because this is so hard.’ "We would work out together and they would pull me off the treadmill, and Sophia would be like, ‘Maybe you should eat this.’ We had slumber parties. I started having fun, which was unheard of."

LATEST: Los Angeles police detectives have foiled a plan to sell photographs stolen from the set of the new INDIANA JONES film by pretending they wanted to buy them.
The undercover cops set up a meeting with Roderick Davis at the Standard Hotel in Hollywood on Tuesday (02Oct07) after learning he was allegedly trying to sell photos taken from the set of Indiana Jones & The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.
After initially discussing terms with Davis, police identified themselves and then arrested him on suspicion of receiving stolen property.
Director Steven Spielberg called cops to the Universal Studios set of the film last week (ends28Sep07) after realising the photographs and computers had been stolen from his office.

Tribute group METAL SKOOL amazed fans midway through their weekly Hollywood concert on Monday (01Oct07) - when they pulled ENTOURAGE actor JEREMY PIVEN out of the audience to play drums.
The band spotted Piven in the crowd duirng their Key Club gig and decided to test his drumming skills.
Piven took charge of the kit while Metal Skool ripped through a cover of AC/DC’s Back In Black.
It’s not the first time the colourful act have been joined onstage by a celebrity - Kelly Clarkson, Ryan Cabrera, basketball player Dennis Rodman, Pink and Juliette Lewis have been among the fans who have performed with the group.

Rapper BEANIE SIGEL has joined the race to play NOTORIOUS B.I.G. in a new biopic about the slain rap superstar.
Chubby reggae star Sean Kingston made it clear he was a favourite for the coveted role last month (Sep07), but now Sigel - real name Dwight Grant - has revealed he has auditioned for the part.

Colourful CHEAP TRICK rocker RICK NIELSEN is set to become the latest celebrity hotelier after announcing plans to open a hotel/restaurant in his adopted Rockford, Illinois.
The Surrender hitmaker’s new place, Rick’s, will also include a museum that will house his impressive guitar collection.
Nielsen joins the likes of Robert Redford, Gloria Estefan, Clint Eastwood, Robert Duvall and the B-52′S star Kate Piersen, all of whom co-own or once co-owned hotels.

SMASHING PUMPKINS star BILLY CORGAN is helping set up a museum dedicated to late electronic synthesiser pioneer BOB MOOG.
The Today rocker has joined forces with the Bob Moog Foundation to restore and preserve Moog’s archives, which were left in a state of disrepair when he died in 2005.
Corgan also hopes to establish scholarships in Moog’s name.
In a statement, he says, "I believe Bob Moog to be one of the great visionaries of our time. His ideas far transcend use in just music, and, to this day, continue to have an impact in everything from rock to rap to quantum physics.
"I strongly believe many people all over the world would benefit from being able to interact with the thoughts, ideas, inventions, and life of Dr. Moog."

Prosecutors in Westchester County, New York have dropped a year old weapons charges against JADAKISS due to a lack of DNA matches on a handgun found in the rapper’s car.
Jadakiss - real name Jason Phillips - was pulled over by police last October (06) and was arrested on suspicion of drug and weapon possession after the authorities allegedly found a loaded handgun and marijuana inside the car he was driving.
He posted $5,000 (£2,800) bail after spending three days behind bars.

Irish singer SINEAD O’CONNOR was relieved when she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, because it helped her come to terms with years of suicidal thoughts.
The 40-year-old spoke out about her condition during a chat with U.S. TV host Oprah Winfrey on Thursday (04Oct07), revealing she often used to wake up sobbing for no reason.
She told Winfrey, "It’s like being a bucket with holes in it. Just leaking tears from every pore." O’Connor revealed she once attempted suicide on her 33rd birthday, but refused to go into details.
She was diagnosed bipolar in 2003 and now takes medications to control her moods and help her sleep.
She said, "I’m not going to sit here and claim that I’m kinda perfect or anything. Anything is an improvement when you’ve been in desolation… To be out of that place is brilliant. It doesn’t mean you don’t have lumps and bumps.
"(But) I’m certainly out of despair, which is great."

Singer NATASHA BEDINGFIELD could have ended up in rehab if her singing career had failed - as a counsellor.
The 25-year-old studied psychology at university, so she would have a career to fall back on if she failed to land a record deal.
She says, "I thought it would help me write my music, but also as a Plan B, so I could be a therapist at the end of it if the music did not work."
