MIRREN SOUGHT THE QUEEN’S PERMISSION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:50 pm

DAME HELEN MIRREN wrote to QUEEN ELIZABETH II to seek her blessing before embarking on her Oscar-winning role in THE QUEEN.
Mirren wowed critics, film fans and lifted the Best Actress Academy award for her role in the 2006 film.
But the 62-year-old confesses for the first time, that she was keen for the monarch’s consent before playing her on the big screen.
Mirren says, "I can now confess that after I’d done my research and before we started shooting, I wrote to her to say we’re making this film and I am playing you and I will do my best. Because I thought it was polite.
"I didn’t hear back from her directly. I got a wonderful non-committal letter from a secretary saying the Queen read your letter with interest and thank you for letting us know."
