KEVIN FEDERLINE’s attorney has praised BRITNEY SPEARS’ former bodyguard for coming forward with his concerns about the pop star’s mothering skills because he helped win the rapper physical custody of his two kids.
Troubled Spears has been ordered to hand over her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James to her ex-husband on Wednesday (03Oct07) after reportedly ignoring a string of court-imposed demands and skipping mandatory drug tests.
And Federline’s lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan, who requested an emergency hearing to address Spears’ ongoing problems on Monday (01Oct07), insists ’secret witness’ Tony Barretto, who was fired as Spears’ bodyguard in May (07), was a big help.
Barretto wasn’t required to testify against his former boss but went public with claims of drug abuse and nudity around her kids.
Kaplan insists his comments helped, and has thanked attorney Gloria Allred for bringing the bodyguard forward.
He says, "I appreciate Gloria facilitating her client coming forward when he did. Today’s proceedings did not involve his testimony. He may be called as a witness in the future." Meanwhile, Allred is celebrating Federline and Kaplan’s win, stating, "removing custody from Ms Spears is the shock treatment that Britney Spears needs.
"My client… believes that she loves her children and that the children also need their mother.
"We hope that this change of custody will give her the strong incentive that she needs to get help so that she can one day be the responsible parent the children deserve to have."
