GEORGE MICHAEL HID GAY SECRET FROM MOTHER
British singer GEORGE MICHAEL was forced to hide his sexuality from his late mother - despite feeling like "a fraud".
The Fast Love hitmaker refused to tell his mother Lesley he was gay - because he wanted to protect her from the possibility he could contract AIDS.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs show, he says,"AIDS was the predominant feature of being gay in the 1980s and early 1990s as far as any parent was concerned. "My mother was still alive and every single day would have been a nightmare for her thinking what I might have been subjected to." Lesley died from cancer in 1997.
