CHERYL COLE: ‘BRITISH PRESS GLORIFY DRUG USE’
GIRLS ALOUD singer CHERYL COLE has accused the British media of "glorifying" drug use by publishing photographs of troubled rocker PETE DOHERTY.
The 23-year-old pop star condemned the press for reporting on the Babyshambles frontman’s recent (May07) arrest for drug possession, insisting his image is having a profound effect on impressionable teenagers.
She says, "I cant stand it when papers print photos of people like him.
"It glorifies everything I hate - being a smackhead. Heroin is devil’s dust, it ruins lives and families, and everything it touches.
"I went out with a heroin addict, my little brother got into drugs, I’ve lost friends to drugs."
