The judge overseeing the PHIL SPECTOR murder case has declared a mistrial.
Judge Larry Paul Fidler sent the members of the jury home on Wednesday (26Sep07) after hearing they were split ten to two after 12 days of deliberation and six ballots - and unable to break their deadlock.
Spector was accused of murdering actress Lana Clarkson in his Alhambra, California mansion in 2003. The trial began in April (07) and featured 77 witnesses.

LATEST: CHARLIE SHEEN’S fired nanny has given her ex-boss’ wife DENISE RICHARDS a helping hand in her ongoing custody battle, after claiming she noticed the actor inappropriately touching the couple’s two daughters.
The Richards/Sheen legal spat became nasty this summer (07) when Sheen accused his ex of hiring her assistant as the kids’ nanny - so she could spy on the actor and his new fiancee Brooke Mueller.
Sheen filed papers asking for the right to hire his own nanny, and Richards has since fired back with allegations relating to the actor’s parenting skills.
And, in new court papers filed on Wednesday (26Sep07), Richards has reportedly asked that her two young daughters with Sheen are no longer allowed to spend the night at their father’s home.
In the new papers, Sheen’s former nanny Diana Alvarez has raised her concerns about the fact her former boss sleeps in the same bed as his three-year-old daughter Sam.
Sheen insists the accusations are "diabolical" and "laughable and inane" and tells U.S. news show The Insider, "I have asked that the court eliminate Ms.
Richards’ ability to abuse and harass us any longer." Richards and Sheen will meet in court for a scheduled custody hearing in Los Angeles on 9 October (07).
Meanwhile, the couple has topped a new U.S. poll of Hollywood’s Nastiest Custody Battles. Richards and Sheen beat Britney Spears and Kevin Federline and Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger to claim number one on the In Touch Weekly list.

Actress KATE WALSH was so dehydrated during her summer (07) wedding to movie boss ALEX YOUNG she thought she was suffering a stroke.
The couple exchanged vows during a heatwave in Ojai, California on 1 September (07), and Walsh became worried when her hands started cramping up.
She says, "It was 110 (degrees Fahrenheit). By the time all the people got in the church it was quite warm.
"We’re literally standing at the altar sweating, it was mop sweat. But I’m like, ‘That’s OK, it’s the happiest day of my life,’ and then, ‘I can’t really feel my hands.’ "I looked down and my hands had starting cramping and I thought, ‘He’s not going to be able to get this ring on.’ I thought I was having a stroke. (So) I said, ‘I got to take a little break, I think.’ "So we took a tiny rest. I literally had to take a break… I had some emergency water; I was dehydrated. And apparently that is a classic symptom of dehydration, you start cramping up."

LATEST: LINDSAY LOHAN’s rehab stint in Utah will not be coming to an end any time soon, according to the actress’ mother.
Dina Lohan insists her troubled daughter isn’t ready to face the world again after spending the past seven weeks at the Cirque Lodge facility in a bid to curb her wild ways.
Recent reports suggested Lohan was planning to leave the Utah rehab facility this weekend (29/30Sep07), but Dina Lohan insists that’s not the case.
In a curt email message to Billy Bush, the anchor of U.S. TV news show Access Hollywood, Dina writes: "Not true, staying in Utah." Lindsay checked into the Cirque Lodge in early August (07), marking her third stint in rehab this year after previous visits to the Wonderland and Promises facilities in Los Angeles.

MARIAH CAREY has hit back at comments made by SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS, suggesting his new fragrance Unforgivable is better than her M, by dismissing his scent as a one-night-stand smell.
Combs challenged Carey and others to a televised ’smell-off’ during a recent TV appearance in America, and Carey has become the first celebrity fragrance rival to respond.
She subtly says, "I heard about this competition, and I wish Puff (Combs) all the best with his new fragrance.
"I think we’re actually appealing to different types of women. M by Mariah Carey is about being unforgettable, not unforgivable.

Actor BILLY BALDWIN is worried about uprooting his family from New York if his new TV series is a hit - because his wife CHYNNA PHILLIPS had hoped to avoid life in Los Angeles.
Phillips, the daughter of the Mamas & The Papas stars John and Michelle Phillips, grew up in California, and hoped she’d never have to go back.

Actor/comedian DANE COOK is keen to become the new BOB HOPE of the U.S. Army’s United Services Organisation by staging a series of variety shows for American troops stationed overseas.
The Employee Of The Month star is plotting to take a group of comedians, singers and entertainers to camps and barracks in Europe and the Middle East, just like his hero Hope did as a U.S.O. ambassador.
He tells WENN, "I’ve been trying to put something together like that for the last year but I want to do it the right way. I’d like to do it in the tradition of guys like Bob Hope, where I would go over and I would host a show and bring people with me.
"We could film the show, release it on DVD and then give 100 per cent of the proceeds back to the U.S.O.
"But I don’t want to do it half-assed. If I can’t get the logistics I can’t do it the right way. If it all worked out, I’d do it in heartbeat.
"My father went to Korea and he served and it means a lot to me to be able to give back to my country no matter what your stance is on the climate, it’s about the people." Cook is already doing his bit - by sending care packages to troops: "I send them CDs, and whatever I can do to keep them laughing."

Veteran actor MICHAEL EVANS has died from complications related to old age. He was 87.
Evans, best know for his role as Colonel Douglas Austin in U.S. TV series The Young And The Restless, passed away on 4 September in Woodland Hills, California.
Born in Sittingbourne, England in 1920, he moved to New York in 1950 to star in Broadway play Ring Round The Moon, before later moving to Hollywood.
Twice-married Evans is survived by two sons and two sisters.

Filmmaker KEVIN SMITH was stunned when he learned he’s considered a sex symbol in a sub-section of the gay community.
The Clerks director agreed to appear on the cover of gay magazine A Bear’s Life after discovering gay men admired his bearded, overweight look.
He says, "Apparently, within the gay community, there’s a movement called the Bear Movement, and it mostly consists of dudes… who look like me - people who wear a lot of layers, like a lot of food and whatnot.
"Within that community there are bears - guys who look like me - and dudes who are really into them, who are called cubs. And, apparently, I’m the focus of a lot of admiration in this community. I’d be considered something of a coup, a score for a cub - the ultimate bear to get.
"And they called and said, ‘Do you want to be on the cover of a magazine?’ I was like, ‘Are you telling me there’s someone out there who sexualises me? I’ll be on that magazine, totally.’"

LATEST: REBA McENTIRE has scored her first number one album in America - with a little help from her friends.
The country star’s Reba Duets release has toppled Kanye West’s Graduation thanks to an opening sales week of 301,000.

British group GIRLS ALOUD have broken the record for most consecutive top 10 hits in the U.K. singles chart by a female act.
The five-piece, whose latest single Sexy! No No No entered the chart at number five earlier this month (Sep07), have had a run of 16 top 10 hits, earning a place in the latest Guinness Book Of Records.
The previous record was held by Destiny’s Child, who had 11 consecutive top 10 singles in the U.K. chart.

The death of Italian opera star LUCIANO PAVAROTTI is to be commemorated in a series of events around the world next month (Oct07).
Pavarotti, who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 71 on 6 September (07), will be remembered in concerts and exhibitions set to begin on 6 October (07) - exactly one month after his death.
Italian foreign ministry officials will stage the tributes at over 90 of the country’s cultural centres, scattered around the globe.
The purpose of the events, which include a photographic exhibition in New York, is "to bring the most important moments of Pavarotti’s international career to the largest public audience possible", according to a government statement.

The SMASHING PUMPKINS comeback tour was hit by tragedy in Richmond, British Columbia on Monday (24Sep07) when a fan died while crowd surfing.
The unnamed 20-year-old was pronounced dead at the venue.
Mystery surrounds the death because the fan suffered no trauma, according to a coroner’s report.
The cause of death won’t be known for weeks until an autopsy and a toxicology report are complete.

A prison inmate informant who claimed a Los Angeles police officer was involved in the killing of rapper NOTORIOUS B.I.G. has admitted he lied.
Waymond Anderson, a R&B singer serving a life sentence for murder, admits he implicated policeman Rafael Perez in the 1997 slaying in order to receive a financial payout from city officials.
In a deposition made on 20 August (07), Anderson said, "I don’t know Rafael Perez. It was a lie, and I’m ashamed of it." Anderson now claims the family of Notorious B.I.G. - real name Christopher Wallace - and their lawyer promised him a share of any potential reward if he lied about police involvement in the murder.
However, the Wallace family’s lawyer Perry R. Sanders Jr. denies the accusation, stating, "This is wholesale, made-up-out-of-whole-cloth perjury." The hip-hop star, who was also known as Biggie Smalls, was shot dead in Los Angeles in March 1997.
Earlier this year (07), his family asked a judge for permission to expand a wrongful death lawsuit against Los Angeles city officials after discovering Perez was on duty the night the rapper was killed.

R&B star USHER is ecstatic after learning he and his new wife TAMEKA FOSTER are to become parents to a baby boy.
The 28-year-old father-to-be - born Usher Raymond IV - recently expressed his desire to have a son, because he would love to pass on his name to another generation.
And the U Remind Me singer hopes his unborn child will grow up to be better behaved than he was as a tot.
He tells People.com, "I just want my son to fully be coherent and to be healthy, first and foremost. I’ve found that it is a step-by-step process. You can wish for a million and one things.
"But I hope that my son has the same energy I had as a child. Hopefully, he won’t be as bad as me. I hope that he’s just a healthy son."
