The Hollywood star, 46, has told how the moving encounter inspired him to live life to the full - and not worry about settling down and starting a family. He insists, "I’ve not wanted to have kids and we all die alone. I learnt a lot about death from my uncle George. Unfortunately, he turned into a drunk. "I’ll always remember him at 68 years old, sitting in bed. He looked at me and said: ‘What a waste’. He didn’t live up to his early promise. After that, I decided I wasn’t going to wake up one day in my sixties and say: ‘What a waste’. I was going to grab as much out of life as I could."

Hollywood star GEORGE CLOONEY is so in love with the movie industry he is happy to work for free.
The 46-year-old actor is determined not to let money get in the way of the projects he chooses to take on, so he is content to take a cut of the profit.

An Iraqi heavy metal band is battling to stay in Syria, fearing members will be killed if they are deported to their homeland.
The members of Acrassicauda - which translates as Black Scorpion - are due to return to Iraq on 10 October, after attempts to renew their visas failed.
But the rockers are convinced deportation would condemn them to a "death sentence" and are appealing for help finding a safe haven.
An email plea for donations reads, "It could very likely be a death sentence, and the time in which we can help them is quickly running out.
"We are asking for donations to assist Acrassicauda in leaving Syria for a safer haven.
"Our goal is to raise $20,000 for the band. These monies will allow the band to purchase flights and to have survival funds when they arrive to their new country. In an effort to protect them, we cannot divulge where they are going until they arrive there safely."

British pop star JAMELIA has written an open letter to fans accusing a magazine journalist of fabricating her attack on talent show winner LEONA LEWIS.
The Dreams hitmaker was quoted in Star magazine describing X-Factor star Lewis as a "poor man’s Mariah Carey" as well as slamming Lewis’ mentor Simon Cowell.
But Jamelia claims Star reporter Dominique Hines made up the quotes.
The singer writes, "As you all should know, I am an extremely outspoken individual and will say it like it is. But one thing you should know for sure is that I’m not unnecessarily bitchy. Yes, I say things that are close to the bone, but I never have or will say disgusting things about people without just cause.
"Which brings me on to a recent "interview" I had with Dominique Hines of the Star Magazine. In the interview, I was asked a series of ill thought out questions, most of which were to lure me into saying headline making comments about other celebs.
"This ‘journalist’ wasn’t happy with me being nice about Leona, so she had to make s**t up so her piece was more interesting and so it could then be regurgitated in the tabloids as gospel. Well I was going to sit back and do nothing, but she did the same thing to me the last time and I’m not standing for it." Instead Jamelia declares Lewis, 21, "amazingly talented" and insists music mogul Cowell made the right choice giving her a record deal.

But now, aged 63, she feels ready to give motherhood a go.
Harry says, "I did consciously decide (not to have kids). At the time our lives were very tempestuous and I really didn’t have time or - I don’t know, I think I was so much of a child myself. Now that I’m comfortable with myself, I would like to, I would like to have some. But I haven’t done it yet. I don’t know exactly how I would do it - whether I would adopt children - but I have been thinking about it."

Oscar winner HALLE BERRY is craving pickles and bread during her pregnancy.
The actress, 41, is three months pregnant with her first child with boyfriend Gabriel Aubrey, and she is already making some unusual requests.
Model Aubrey tells People.com, "She does crave pickles. And any bread.
Doesn’t matter, as long as it’s salt and pickles.

Hollywood star ANGELINA JOLIE will meet U.K. Foreign Secretary DAVID MILIBAND in New York this week (ends28Sep07) to discuss global diplomacy, British officials announced on Tuesday (25Sep07).
The 32-year-old actress, who is a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, has agreed to the meeting which seeks to soften the tone of global relations after Britain became involved in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Tomb Raider star will also appear on a revamped Foreign Office website.

LATEST: Hollywood star GEORGE CLOONEY considers himself lucky to have escaped his recent motorcycle crash unscathed.
Clooney and new girlfriend Sarah Larson were riding in New Jersey on Friday (21Sep07) when they were hit by a car.
The Ocean’s Eleven star suffered a rib fracture and grazes in the accident and Larson, who was his passenger, broke two toes. Both were taken to the Palisades Medical Center for treatment and have since been released.
And Clooney is thankful not to have sustained more serious injuries.
Speaking at the premiere of his new movie Michael Clayton on Monday (24Sep07), he said, "I feel pretty lucky we got out of it. It’s scary. We never really saw it coming.
"They signaled left and went right… We got hit." No charges are to be brought over the incident.

LATEST: A crew member working on the new BATMAN movie died in a "tragic" accident and not during filming, studio bosses have confirmed.
The unnamed special effects expert was following the Batmobile on a racetrack in Surrey, England when the car he was in crashed into a tree.
It had been reported the victim was trying to figure out how to film a car chase scene for Batman: The Dark Knight on Tuesday (24Sep07).
But a spokesman for Warner Bros. Pictures insists the accident did not take place on the film set and actors Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Heath Ledger were not involved.
A statement reads, "There was a fatal accident at a special effects facility for The Dark Knight on the afternoon of 24th September. A technician on the film died when the truck he was in struck a tree following a test run.
"Warner Bros. Pictures and the entire cast and crew of The Dark Knight are deeply saddened by this tragedy and their hearts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased."
