Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:26 pm

Canada’s union for actors will still honour KIEFER SUTHERLAND with an Award Of Excellence on Wednesday (26Sep07), despite his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence in the early hours of Tuesday (25Sep07) morning.
Sutherland was pulled over by police in Los Angeles after making an illegal U-turn. Cops conducted a breath test and found the actor allegedly had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
However, bosses at the Alliance Of Canadian Cinema, Television And Radio Artists (ACTRA) have vowed to go ahead with honouring Sutherland - although press are now barred from event, reports TMZ.com.

ACTRA president Richard Hardacre said in a press statement issued before Sutherland’s arrest: "We are proud to present this award to Kiefer who, as a Canadian actor working in the U.S., has overcome great odds to build one of the most successful careers in Hollywood." Sutherland has previously been arrested for DUI in California in 2004.
He will appear before a California court on 16 October (07) to answer charges and, if convicted, faces a mandatory five-day jail sentence.

ANDERSON DENIES WILSON CONTRIBUTED TO SUICIDE CHARACTER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:20 pm

Movie director WES ANDERSON has denied reports OWEN WILSON’s troubled private life contributed to his latest film character - a man with suicidal tendencies.
A depressed Wilson allegedly slashed his wrists in an apparent suicide attempt at his home in Santa Monica, California last month (Aug07).
And, in a bizarre coincidence, his latest movie character is involved in a deliberate motorcycle accident in The Darjeeling Limited.
But filmmaker Anderson insists Wilson had no hand in writing the role.
He says, "It (suicide theme) comes more from me than Owen. He is just playing a role. There’s not much else there.
"People can’t avoid making connections, but they are making them after the fact." And Anderson also plays down speculation Wilson was responsible for the scene in 2001 movie The Royal Tenenbaums, which the pair co-wrote, where his brother Luke Wilson’s character tries to kill himself by cutting his wrists.
He adds, "I wrote that character myself. Owen was not in on that one."
