SIR ELTON TELLS TV SHOW OF HIS COCAINE STRUGGLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:44 pm

SIR ELTON JOHN became hooked on cocaine because it gave him the confidence to be a rock star.
The singer revealed the extent of his drug abuse for TV show Elton John: Me Myself and I, which aired in the UK on Saturday (22Sep07).
The Rocket Man star claimed he was too shy to handle his fame until he was introduced to the drug in the 1970s: "It gave me the confidence to join the game. But I wasn’t the kind of person who would do one or two lines. I did a gram and then called out for more." But the drug caused John to meltdown. Besides almost killing him, he confesses it turned him into a detached and demanding diva, adding on the show, "I was once staying in a hotel in London and it was really windy outside. I rang up the office and asked if there was anything they could do about it.
That’s how bad it got."

BODYGUARD: ‘BRITNEY IS A DRUG-BINGING BAD MOTHER’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:41 pm

BRITNEY SPEARS binged on drink and drugs and nearly overdosed just weeks after checking out of rehab, according to her former bodyguard TONY BARRETTO.
The revelations formed part of Barretto’s testimony during Spears’ court battle with ex Kevin Federline over custody of their two children Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one.
He claims he discovered the singer barely conscious and surrounded by drugs in a California hotel room with rumoured fling Howie Day, just weeks after they both left rehab and hours before she was due to begin her comeback tour.
He says, "I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Britney was completely out of it. We thought she’d overdosed. She was distraught, crying. Her skin was all waxy.
"We were panicking. We thought she was going to die." He also claims Spears was regularly under the influence of alcohol and drugs while caring for her children - and took enjoyment from parading around naked.
Barretto adds, "I must have seen her naked dozens of times and each time I’ve been extremely embarrassed.
"I was worried about the children due to her erratic behaviour. She wouldn’t talk to them at all and she would be in her own world.
"I have done this for her children. She’s not a good mother. She has mental problems. With her drug and booze issues, her home is no place for kids to be raised." Barretto’s testimony could mean that Britney, 25, loses custody of Jayden James and Sean Preston to Federline.

MADONNA TO DUMP RECORD LABEL?

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:41 pm

MADONNA is set to dump her record company and sign a $100 million (£50 million) contract with tour promoter Live Nation, according to reports.
The Material Girl is expected to walk away from her 25-year deal with Warner Music and hand control of new releases at live performances to Live Nation.
A senior music industry source says, "This is a sign of the times. At this stage in her career Madonna realises she stands to make more money from touring - £130 million ($260 million) on her last tour - than releasing records.
"So she wants to go with a company that can look after both rather than being tied to a record company."

LOST WHO FOOTAGE UNEARTHED FOR NEW DVD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:32 pm

Lost footage of THE WHO has been unearthed for a new film about the British rockers.
Never-before-seen concert and archival footage will feature on new DVD package Amazing Journey: The Story of the Who.
Band founders Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend are among the brains behind the project, and the duo also contributed material from their personal archives.
The film also features footage shot by fans after original director Murray Lerner went online to ask devotees to submit old home video footage of the group.
Among the lost footage is performances of The Who when they were known as the High Numbers in the mid-1960s. Executive producer Nigel Sinclair tells Billboard.com, "The film was lost for the ages, but three years ago, an old gentleman in Amsterdam was cleaning out his loft.
"His grandson knew this was what the Who used to call themselves, and they put it on and realised what it was.
"We had 834 separate items we had to clear in the past few months. Our post-production specialist is now writing a PhD paper for NYU based on this project. It was unprecedented. It is really difficult to take these different formats and make them work." The Who film also features interviews with celebrity fans like Sting, Eddie Vedder and Noel Gallagher.
