Bar ban
A US village is about to lift a 104 year ban on alcohol.
A pizzeria in the village of Zeeland in Michigan has been granted a liquor licence after residents voted to lift the century-old ban.
The village has a population of 6,000 and the ballot was won by just 40 votes with 1,425 in favour of lifting the ban and 1,385 against.
Business leaders say they hope allowing liquor licenses will help the city attract a fine-dining restaurant and spark new business activity downtown.
But so far Vitale’s Pizza is the only company to apply for a licence to serve alcohol.
