Rapper THE GAME has appeared in a New York court to face charges of impersonating a police officer.
The Dreams hitmaker, real name Jayceon Terrell Taylor, was arrested in November (06) after a practical joke went wrong.
The Game pretended to be an undercover cop and instructed a motorist to drive through a series of red lights.
In court on Thursday (20Sep07), a judge ruled the charges against the rap star would be dismissed in six months if he stays out of trouble.
Outside court, the smiling rapper said, "I love New York, but I hate the system."

KANYE WEST has scored a double chart victory in America after taking his new hit STRONGER to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 a day after he debuted his new CD at number one on the album countdown.

Rocker JOHNNY ROTTEN has likened troubled stars PETE DOHERTY and AMY WINEHOUSE to his ex-bandmate SID VICIOUS.
The Sex Pistols frontman believes Winehouse and Doherty are no longer enjoying making music and are committing "a slow suicide" by turning to drugs just like his close friend and bassist Vicious, who died of a drug overdose in 1979.
He says, "You know you can use drugs for entertainment but you should be quiet about it. That shouldn’t be your centre showpiece.
"There’s not much going on in their head with them. They’re not thinking.
They’re not doing this for the right reasons.
"They obviously don’t enjoy what they’re doing. And that’s why you turn to drugs. And that’s what happened with Sid, he wasn’t happy about what he couldn’t do.
"It’s a slow suicide and it’s a cry for help because they’re in pain, they’re in mental pain. And this is a disgusting industry because people just cut you dead.
"The general public aren’t too wise about what that means to be constantly in the limelight. It’s a pain in the f**king arse."

Singers VINCE GILL, SHERYL CROW and BRENDA LEE were joined by a host of country music stars to honour Country Music Hall of Fame member FRANCES PRESTON. The Leadership Dale Franklin Award was presented to Preston on Tuesday (18Sep07) in recognition of her contributions to the music industry throughout her career. Now retired, Preston served as president and CEO of BMI from 1986 until 2004 after joining the performance rights organisation in 1958 and opening its regional office in Nashville. Country star Vince Gill hosted the Nashville event, which featured congratulatory video messages from Dolly Parton and Al Gore.

American actor CHRISTIAN SLATER has been inspired to tour the world after shooting a charity documentary in South Africa.
The 38-year-old star visited the Ulusaba Private Game Reserve with son Jaden to film Virgin Limited Editions’ charity DVD Our Safari Diary.
And the True Romance star says the trip was so inspirational, he is planning on making more documentaries outside of the U.S.
He says, "I’d love to do more (travel) documentaries at some point in the future. It was a truly amazing experience. Travelling to Africa and filming the diary is something my son, who was only seven, will remember forever. The people couldn’t have been sweeter. It was the trip of a lifetime."

SEX PISTOLS frontman JOHNNY ROTTEN has ridiculed STING’s decision to reform his band THE POLICE, branding them "soggy old dead carcasses".
Rotten, who this week announced his punk band would perform a one-off reunion gig in London later this year, likened the band’s music to "letting air out of a balloon".
He says, "That really is a reformation isn’t it? But honestly that’s like soggy old dead carcasses.
"You know listening to Stink (Sting) try to squeak through Roxanne one more time that’s not fun.
"It’s like letting air out of a balloon."

Actress ANGELINA JOLIE feared for her life following a dangerous sexual experience as a teenager.
The Tomb Raider star and her then boyfriend introduced knives into the bedroom - and it almost had dangerous consequences.
She tells Cosmopolitan magazine, "My S&M lifestyle was dangerous. My then-boyfriend and I used knives on each other. I was 14 and wanted to break out. I didn’t tell anyone about it; it was a dark secret. "But I’ve since been more careful with things like that."

BILLIE PIPER has dismissed rumours she’s planning to return to sci-fi series DOCTOR WHO - but confesses she may make a surprise return one day.
The actress bowed out of the show after 27 episodes as the Doctor’s assistant Rose Tyler. The show has kick-started Piper’s big screen career - she is currently starring as a London prostitute in TV movie Secret Life Of A Call Girl.
The 24-year-old has no plans to go back to the sci-fi series, and is baffled by recent claims she is lining up a return.
She says, "A friend of mine told me he’d read about that. It’s news to me. I think I’d find it very hard to play Rose Tyler again, but I don’t rule out a return to the show in some form or another at some point in the future."

The third installment of the NARNIA franchise has been delayed until 2010.
A Disney spokeswoman says The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader has been put back because of "the challenging schedules for our young actors", but says production will begin next summer (08). The movie, which is being directed by acclaimed filmmaker Michael Apted, was originally scheduled for release in May 2009.

Comedian KATHY GRIFFIN has come under fire by a Christian theatre group for blaspheming during her acceptance speech at the Emmy Awards on Sunday (16Sep07).
Members of Tennessee’s Miracle Theater posted an $90,000 (£45,000) advert in USA Today condemning Griffin’s speech, during which she said: "a lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus. This award is my God now!" General manager Russ Hollingsworth says group members are offended by jokes about Jesus.
He says, "When word reached our cast that a Hollywood celebrity had stood before TV cameras and said such vulgar things about Christ, they were incensed.
"It’s just not OK anymore to mock Christians and Jesus with impunity." But Griffin insisted her statements were meant as a joke, adding, "Am I the only Catholic left with a sense of humour?"

Former American football star O.J SIMPSON "deserves" to be jailed over an alleged sports memorabilia robbery, according to the father of RON GOLDMAN.
In 1995 Simpson was cleared by a criminal court of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole and her friend Goldman. A civil court later ruled he was responsible for their deaths.
Fred Goldman believes a conviction for the alleged robbery would provide his family with justice for the murders.
He tells Usmagazine.com, "(O.J.) should have first and foremost gone to prison for murdering Ron and Nicole. Him going away for these crimes is second best. If he ends up in prison it is exactly where he belongs. Small cell, smaller the better. And, of course, no golfing privileges.
"I would like to see him punished to the letter of the law and maximum sentence. Honestly, the best visual was (O.J.) coming into court in a prison uniform and in handcuffs. That is just the way it is supposed to be. I took a certain amount of joy in seeing that." Simpson has been charged with armed robbery, kidnapping and assault charges and was released on $125,000 (£62,500) bail until he’s arraigned in court in Las Vegas next month (Oct07). He has also surrendered his passport to police.
But Goldman hopes the sports star-turned-actor is not given preferential treatment.
He adds, "I hope that there is nothing that one could point to and say he is getting any certain special treatment.
"He has more than enough money and millions of dollars at his disposal. The fact that he has to turn in his passport is a positive, but this is a bad guy.
The sooner he goes to trial the better." Simpson was arrested on Sunday (16Sep07), following an armed raid at the Palace Station Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Superstar PRINCE has appeared on the catwalk at London Fashion Week after staging a surprise performance for designer pal MATTHEW WILLIAMSON’s show.
The Purple Rain hitmaker was a front row guest at Williamson’s spring summer show when one of his songs was played over the catwalk.
Prince began singing into a microphone from his seat and jumped onto the runway flanked by his band.
Williamson says, "He really wanted to do this, and you don’t say ‘No’ to Prince."

Rapper JAY-Z was so inspired by RIDLEY SCOTT’s upcoming movie AMERICAN GANGSTER, he has dedicated his next album to the director.
The hip-hop star even stole the name of the film - which stars Denzel Washington - for his LP, also called American Gangster He says, "It was like I was watching the film and putting it on pause and giving a back story to the story. Watching that film, it brought back all these memories. It took me back to those emotions." The album will be released on 6 November four days after the movie (02Nov07).

Rapper MOS DEF has led a rally in Louisiana in support of six black students who he claims have been wrongly accused of an attack on a white schoolmate.
The hip-hop star - real name Dante Terrell Smith - pledged his support to the group earlier this month by writing an open letter asking "African-Americans of influence, and all concerned parties" to join him in the "fight against racial inequality and show solidarity for these young people, who are being treated very harshly by the law." On Wednesday (19Seo07), Smith was joined by race activists Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Martin Luther King III on a march through Jena.
Sharpton protested the youths’ innocence during a speech at the rally.
He said, "You cannot have justice meted out based on who you are rather than what you did. "Six black kids indicted as adults for attempted murder, and the weapons charged in the indictment is their sneakers, this is the most blatant example of disparity in the justice system that we’ve seen. "You can’t have two standards of justice. We didn’t bring race in it, those that hung the nooses brought the race into it." Four members of the group face aggravated second-degree battery and conspiracy charges resulting from an attack on the student in Jena. Two of the teenagers have been charged with attempted murder.

ROD STEWART’s son SEAN has been ordered to stand trial in Los Angeles over charges he assaulted a couple. The rocker’s offspring is facing a legal battle with Daniel Refoua, who claims he was "attacked, assaulted, battered, punched, beat, hit, struck, tortured and imprisoned" by Stewart during an incident which took place in the Hollywood Hills in January (07).
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Julius M. Title claimed witnesses for the prosecution and defence offered conflicting testimony during a hearing on Wednesday (19Sep07), but said there was sufficient evidence to allow the case against Stewart to proceed.
Stewart pleaded not guilty to three felony counts, including assault with a deadly weapon in June. He remains free on bail.
A trial date is yet to be confirmed.

Pop star GEORGE MICHAEL has ordered an interview in which he discusses his fears of HIV to be removed from a forthcoming documentary.
The singer was quizzed for BBC show Stephen Fry: HIV and Me. In the show comedian Fry examines the spread of the virus and undergoes an HIV test himself.
Michael was originally willing to talk about HIV - which claimed the life of his former partner Anselmo Feleppa in 1995 - but he changed his mind after the talk was taped.
A spokesperson reveals, "On reflection, he felt it was too close and too personal a journey. It was too personal for Anselmo’s family to revisit." In July (07), the show’s producer Ross Wilson revealed that Michael had refused to undergo an HIV test himself, explaining, "George says he does not believe in tests. He says he finds the wait for results too harrowing and that he hasn’t had a test since at least 2004 due to his fears it might be positive."

Actress DREW BARRYMORE has fuelled rumours she is dating her movie co-star JUSTIN LONG after the pair were spotted kissing over the weekend (15-16/Sep07).
The Charlie’s Angles star, 32, enjoyed a passionate break with fellow actor Long, 29, at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Texas, according to U.S reports.
