SIMPSON TO PLEAD NOT GUILTY TO ARMED ROBBERY
O.J. SIMPSON will plead not guilty to armed robbery, kidnapping and assault charges when he’s arraigned in court in Las Vegas next month (Oct07).
The Naked Gun star was released from custody on bail early on Wednesday (19Sep07) after a brief court hearing and his attorney Yale Galanter revealed he’d be fighting for Simpson’s innocence during a press conference outside the courthouse.
Galanter told reporters his client would not be conducting any interviews before returning to court for a further hearing on 17 October (07).
The Florida-based attorney said, "I think he’s (Simpson) extremely relieved… This has been a very harrowing experience for him and he’s been in custody for three days.
"He just wants to get home and be with his family and kids." Galanter also commended prosecutors for setting bail at a "reasonable" $125,000 (£62,500), adding, "Despite his past and public opinion about his past he is not a flight risk and he is not a danger to the community." Simpson is charged with 10 felony counts and one misdemeanour count following an alleged armed sports memorabilia raid on a hotel suite in the Palace Station Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas last week (13Sep07).
