The movie star admits he dines on his favourite wilted turnips and Mississippi Pond-Raised Bass with Quinoa and Peach Chutney at his southern-flavoured restaurant Madidi whenever he’s not on a film set.
And there’s no such thing as a free meal for Freeman at the upscale Clarksdale diner - even though he co-owns the joint.
He says, "I have to pay. My partner and I decided that we could eat ourselves out of business if we didn’t set the precedent."

MORGAN FREEMAN is following in SAMUEL L. JACKSON’s golfing footsteps in an effort to pass the time between movie roles.
The Seven star admits he’s been playing for just under a year - but he fears he’ll never be as good as Jackson, who along with Alice Cooper and Dennis Quaid, is considered one of the best celebrity golfers in the world.
Freeman says, "My official handicap has been reduced from 35 to 26 and I’m trying to get it back up to 35.
"I love it periodically - when you manage to make contact with the ball and it goes somewhere near where you wanted it to go, it is just a fantastic feeling."

British actress SIENNA MILLER once had a childhood nightmare about a ferry disaster only for the tragedy to come true.
The Alfie star admits she grew up with a little Extra-Sensory Perception (ESP), and she can still remember one vivid dream in 1994 which left her shaken.
She says, "I woke up in the middle of the night. I was running into my dad’s room and crying, saying I had just had this awful dream.
"There was this ferry crash and, in the dream, the name of the ferry was Sally Ferry.
"All these people were drowning and screaming and my dad was like, ‘It’s OK, it was only a dream.’ "We got on a plane for Portugal to go on holiday that day and the cover of the newspaper was ‘Sally Ferry sinking, people in the water.’" But Miller, who admits she thought she was historical queen Anne Boleyn as a child, insists she no longer has the ability to see into the future: "I think I sort of lost it."

JAKE GYLLENHAAL and TOBEY MAGUIRE are set to play siblings in a remake of SUSANNE BIER’s acclaimed Danish war movie BROTHERS.

Oscar winner JIM BROADBENT is set to become HARRY POTTER’s latest teacher after signing on to play HORACE SLUGHORN in HALF-BLOOD PRINCE.
In the Potter books, Slughorn is Hogwarts’ potion master and the brains behind the fictitious magic school’s Slug Club.
The British actor tells DarkHorizons.com, "Slughorn is drawn back out of retirement because he’s got some secrets Harry and (headmaster) Dumbledore need in the battle against the Death Eaters.

The as-yet-untitled project, which features former Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore, was largely recorded at Jack Johnson’s new eco-friendly studio in Los Angeles.

GOOD CHARLOTTE star JOEL MADDEN has confirmed reports he plans to marry his pregnant girlfriend, NICOLE RICHIE, but he has no ideas where or when.
The couple announced they were set to become first-time parents on U.S. TV in July (07) and Madden has since hinted he hopes to ask Richie to be his wife.
He says, "Obviously, marriage is in our future. I don’t know when or where or how, but right now our priority is our family and the baby.
"That’s all we’ve been thinking about. We are in love and are really happy." And the rocker admits he can’t wait to become a dad: "It’s the best thing that has ever happened to us. It’s awesome." Madden reveals he and The Simple Life star are waiting to find out the sex of the child, but they already have a name - sort of.

CELINE DION would never make it in showbusiness if she was a young girl starting out in 2007, according to the singer herself.
The Canadian admits her bad teeth and skinny frame would have prevented her from becoming a star in today’s tough industry, where singers’ looks are more important than talent.
Dion says, "A great voice is not enough… They (singers) need to be pretty.
"When I look at myself in the past, I get very emotional. I worked really hard, and I surpassed myself… I didn’t have, visually, what it took.
"I was not pretty, I had teeth problems, and I was very skinny. I didn’t fit the mold."

The members of reformed supergroup VAN HALEN are preparing for their upcoming U.S. reunion tour by inviting rock’s elite to check out their rehearsals.
Anthrax star Scott Ian, Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello and Metallica’s Kirk Hammett are among those who have joined family members at the Los Angeles Forum as Eddie Van Halen and his bandmates get ready to rock for fans.
And guitarist Ian was so impressed with what he saw and heard recently, he posted a rave review online.
Writing on his MySpace.com page, the rocker has stated, "They were f**king amazing… Seriously, the hair on my arms was standing up.
"The set list was 2 1/2 hours of the best s**t: I’m The One, Atomic Punk, Romeo Delight, Somebody Get Me A Doctor, Mean Street, Unchained and so many more.
"Do whatever you gotta do to get tix (tickets) to see this. FINALLY!!!!! A real full blown arena rock act!!!!! It’s like listening to the soundtrack of America since 1978. THE KINGS ARE BACK!!!!!!!" And Ian admits he was particularly impressed by new bass player, Eddie’s teenage son Wolfgang.
The Anthrax star adds, "Wolf was perfect. Great on bass and (he) hit every high note."

CELINE DION has refused to ever set foot on a red carpet again because she hates answering superficial questions about the clothes she is wearing.
The superstar singer was savaged by the fashion police for wearing a backwards white Dior suit to the 1999 Oscars and has never truly recovered from the criticism.
And now she tells style magazine W she insists on bypassing red carpets at events - so she doesn’t have to talk about fashion.
She says, "I just want to do music and perform for people who want to see me performing.
"I don’t want people to say to me, ‘Are those diamonds yours? Did you borrow them?’ I can pay for my own diamonds, and I don’t need to wear the necklace of the year.
"I don’t need that s**t, so I don’t want to walk on the red carpet. If nobody wants to dress me because they want publicity, well, I’m sorry." But Dion has won praise from some fashion designers - because she’s one of the few stars who insists on buying whatever she wears.
Gilles Mendel, who has become one of the singer’s favourite designers, admits he can’t remember ever lending her an outfit.
He says, "It’s really rare… She is really classy. It creates an independence, so she doesn’t owe anything to anyone."

Hip-hop superstar 50 CENT marked the end of his five-day New York City tour by inviting pals REMY MA and LL COOL J to join him onstage.
The rapper - real name Curtis Jackson - was performing at Rum Jungle in his native Queens on Sunday night (16Sep07), when he invited Remy Ma to sing his track Lean Back.
Jackson then told fans, "I got a surprise for you," before calling hip-hop star-turned-actor LL Cool J up to performed a rendition of new track Queens.

Hollywood actor BRAD PITT lost his temper with the paparrazzi at the Canadian premiere of his new movie, insisting he is sick of being "hunted".
The star - who was in Toronto for the premiere of his new movie The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford - says he and partner Angelina Jolie are being "run out of every major city".
A source tells USmagazine.com, "We saw all these people running. People were holding up their cellphones (to take photos).
"Brad was yelling at the driver to drive, Angelina looked like a woman completely paralysed. You could read her lips, and she kept saying, ‘Get back to the hotel.’ " But Pitt defended his outburst, claiming it was difficult for his family to lead normal lives.
He says, "It’s impossible for us. We’re run out of every major city. There’s just too many paparazzi. There’s always cameras in the kids’ faces, yelling their names.
"Angie gets out of the car, and they take the camera down to the curb and shoot up (her skirt). It’s unbelievable…there’s a constant negotiation in how to survive and how to maintain a family life.
"I understand the essence of paranoia. I understand being hunted, to some degree. It’s rare, but there are imbalanced people out there. I’ve had some of these abnormal incidents that can be a bit frightening."

British pop star LILY ALLEN has been banned from borrowing clothes from top fashion houses - because she ruins them.
The Smile hitmaker admits she often leaves designers fuming after wearing their swanky shoes and gowns to parties, only to return them in tatters.
She tells Cosmopolitan magazine, "I’ve been banned from some fashion places because I’m so crap with things.
"Christian Louboutin won’t lend me clothes because my dog chewed the shoes he lent me. And I got mud on a Julien Macdonald dress, so he wasn’t happy!"
