COSTNER TOUCHED BY SHRINE TO DEAD SOLDIER
KEVIN COSTNER was brought to tears on the set of his new movie SWING VOTE when the family of the store he was filming in revealed their daughter had been killed in Iraq.
The actor was shooting in Belen, New Mexico when he decided to ask a local family if he could use their shop as a setting in the movie.
They agreed and Costner started setting up the scene; that’s when he came across the ’shrine’ to the couple’s daughter.
He tells U.S. news show Entertainment Tonight, "We walk in, we’re looking around and they said, ‘Y’know our daughter was killed in Iraq; she was in a helicopter and she wanted to serve her country.’ "Her little boy was over playing with some blocks and they had this shrine to her.
"Movies give us a chance to touch life in a lot of ways… I received a lot right there."
