50 CENT: `KANYE/JAY-Z TV COLLABORATION WAS UNFAIR’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:24 am

50 CENT has slammed the bosses of cable music show 106 & Park for failing to let him know rap rival KANYE WEST would be joined by hip-hop heavyweight JAY-Z during a TV face-off on Tuesday (11Sep07).
Jay-Z thrilled the studio audience when he joined West for a performance of new song Big Brother - and no one was more surprised than 50, who was also a guest on the show.
West and 50 Cent were invited to appear on the BET show to talk about their new albums, which were released earlier in the day and the In Da Club hitmaker claims his rap rival was given an unfair advantage.
50 says he felt "upstaged" by West’s TV collaboration with Jay-Z, stating he could have countered the duet if he been informed about it ahead of time.
Angry 50 says, "Every time I do a show, the plans change. Now, either I’m going to know exactly what I’m doing on the show or I’m not going to go.
"If I knew I could’ve brought a special guest, I would’ve brought Eminem."

50 CENT CLOSES THE GAP ON KANYE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:21 am

50 CENT has started the weekend on a high note after closing the gap on the rap race to number one between him and KANYE WEST.
West raced ahead when his album Graduation was released with 50’s Curtis on Tuesday (11Sep07), selling almost twice as many copies in the first 24 hours.
But 50 is still in the race as the rap rivalry moves into the weekend - he has closed the sales gap to an estimated 180,000.
In figures released on Friday (14Sep07), 50’s album has sold 603,000 copies, while West is hurtling towards number one with 781,000 units sold.
50 Cent had claimed he would retire from making solo albums if West won the sales battle.
Meanwhile, West admits he’s glad his bold move to release his album on the same day as the rap heavyweight paid off - because it could have ended his career.
He explains, "People were surprised that I even stepped (up) to the plate to compete with 50 because he’s such a menacing force in the game. He’s actually ended people’s careers before.
"I was already, like, preparing my family. I’m, like, telling my girl, `Baby, just brace yourself.’"

GERE ADDRESSES SNORING PROBLEM WITH HORRIFIC SLEEP DEVICE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:21 am

Movie star RICHARD GERE has started strapping on a curious sleep device in a bid to stop snoring.
The actor checked into a New York "sleep clinic" for the night to allow experts to monitor his sleeping, so he could control his snoring problem and they suggested he try revolutionary new headgear that reminds him of the horrific torture devices used in disturbing cult movie A Clockwork Orange.
Gere says, "This is a device that fits in your mouth… It forces (your jaw) open and forward, so that your throat stays open, and it’s horrific.
"I haven’t slept in six months because I have this thing in." But the effort Gere is putting in has impressed his sleepdeprived wife, Carey Lowell.
He adds, "It got to the point where she wasn’t getting any sleep… so I actually told her one day, `Look, I’m gonna go to the sleep clinic,’ and she started crying because she was so happy that I was gonna do something about this."

SPEARS & FEDERLINE SETTLE FINANCES ON SON SEAN PRESTON’S BIRTHDAY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:18 am

BRITNEY SPEARS and ex-husband KEVIN FEDERLINE celebrated their son SEAN PRESTON’s second birthday hammering out a spousal support settlement in Los Angeles on Friday (14Sep07).
Lawyers for the former couple agreed that Federline should continue receiving $20,000 (GBP10,000)-a-month in spousal support until November (07), after which he’ll receive only child support payments from his ex-wife.
Outside court, Spears’ attorney, Laura Wasser, told People magazine reporters,"I think she (Spears) just wants to be a mom.
"Both of her kids’ birthdays are this week, and I think she would’ve liked to celebrate with them without having to worry about the entire nation - the entire world - being concerned about what’s going on with her personally and her custody battle with Mr. Federline." She went on to deny a report suggesting her client had offered Federline a settlement earlier this week (beg10Sep) to end their ongoing financial and child custody battles.
The rumour started on Wednesday (12Sep07) - son Jayden James’ first birthday - when Spears attended an unscheduled meeting with Federline and his attorney at Wasser’s office.
Wasser added, "I don’t believe that’s true. They (Spears and Federline) met and are trying to work it out so they don’t have to have a judge make determinations for them regarding their kids." Spears and Federline are due to face each other before a family court judge on Monday (17Sep07) to discuss child custody arrangements.

Actor TATE DONOVAN has blasted the young stars of former soap THE O.C., insisting they were "incredibly difficult" to work with.
The former Friends star, who played Jimmy Cooper on the once cult drama series, has laid the blame for The O.C.’s many on-set problems at the feet of the show’s stars Mischa Barton, Benjamin McKenzie, Rachel Bilson and Adam Brody.
He says, "They were really tough. Directors were leaving the set and saying, `I’m never going to work with (them again).’ "I think they all wanted movie careers and did not want to be on a television show. All four of them were, like, `This show is ruining my career.’"

PRODUCERS HATED CASSEL’S GAY BLOND LOOK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:12 am

French actor VINCENT CASSEL’s bid to go gay by dying his hair blond in new movie EASTERN PROMISES backfired on him - studio bosses hated the look.
The Ocean’s Thirteen star plays the closeted gay son of a Russian Mafia boss in the film, and felt the best way to present his character was by dying his hair.
He says, "When I first got on the set I had this idea that I wanted to do this little not over the top thing, but a feminine thing for a Mafioso, and so I came on the set blond.
"The first time (director) David Cronenberg saw me he freaked out and said, `I’m not sure about that.’ "We did the screen tests and the people from the studio freaked out because they thought my character was too `L.A.’, which was a funny statement to me.
After the tests they had me change my hair back."

FISCHER KEEN NOT TO REPEAT 2006 EMMY NIGHTMARES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:12 am

Emmy Award nominee JENNA FISCHER has bittersweet memories of last year’s (06) TV Oscars - it cost her $2,700 (GBP1,350) and her designer gown made her sweat like a pig.
The actress, who is nominated for an Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series prize on Sunday (16Sep07), reveals last year’s gift bag cost her a small fortune in taxes - and she wore the wrong dress.
She explains, "The gift bag used to be the most exciting thing about it but now you get taxed for them
. I got my Emmy gift bag last year and I ended up paying $2,700 in taxes on it
. Whether you use the stuff or not, if you take the bag you’re paying taxes on what the bag is worth.
"One of the coupons was I could have a cheese party at my house and I had to pay taxes on the cheese coupons." But it was her designer gown that caused her the most headaches a year ago: "I barely made it into the Shrine Auditorium because I was so hot on the red carpet..
. I had to go into the bathroom and literally take off my dress and wipe myself with tissues.
"I had to hang the dress on that little hook and I’m standing there in my undergarments, which was ridiculous
. I had to practically shower in the ladies room when the show was starting, and my category was up first
. If I hadn’t and I had won I would’ve slipped right off the stage from the amount of liquid pouring off my body." Fischer has a much better plan this year: "Carolina Herrera made me a beautiful dress that’s really lightweight, silky and fun."

DUNNE DISAPPROVES OF SIMPSON BOOK HE HELPED WRITE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:12 am

Crime writer DOMINICK DUNNE "disapproves" of O.J. SIMPSON’s controversial IF I DID IT book, even though he wrote the tome’s afterword.
The revered U.S. journalist insists he didn’t want to contribute to the book, but agreed to as a favour to his friend Fred Goldman after he won the rights to publish the hypothetical account of how Simpson `murdered’ his ex-wife Nicole Brown and Goldman’s son Ron in 1994.
Simpson was acquitted of the double murder, but the Goldman family won a huge financial civil settlement against the star, and, after winning a legal battle to keep the If I Did It book from stores and stop Simpson from cashing in on sales late last year (06), Fred Goldman decided to release the tome himself to recoup some of the money awarded to his family.
Goldman asked Vanity Fair columnist Dunne to give the book, which was released in America on Friday (14Sep07) an authentic overview, and the writer eventually agreed.
He says, "I’m not profiting. I didn’t get paid… I didn’t want to get paid, I didn’t actually want to do it.
"I have not read the book, I will not read the book, I disapprove of the book.
"I sat with the Goldman family throughout the O.J trial… and we became friends and he asked me to do it, I declined at first. He said they needed my name.
"I didn’t write about the trial, I wrote about my relationship with them during the trial." Goldman has admitted he was reluctant to release the book at first, fearing it was nothing more than "a manual for murder".

O.J. SIMPSON ROBBERY VICTIM SPEAKS OUT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:10 am

LATEST: The man who alleges he was robbed by O.J. SIMPSON has revealed the sports star and his "posse" pretended to be customers who wanted to buy memorabilia when they raided his hotel suite.
Sports memorabilia collector Alfred Beardsley claims Simpson took charge of a heavy-handed raid on his hotel suite in Las Vegas on Thursday night (13Sep07).
Beadsley alleges guns were drawn after he welcomed Simpson and his five associates into his room at the Palace Station Hotel & Casino, believing them to be memorabilia buyers.
He tells TMZ.com that he understood the group was interested in buying the suit Simpson wore the day he was acquitted of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994.
Beardsley tells TMZ.com Simpson "took control of the situation," saying, "You guys have stolen my property." The collector claims Simpson and his posse cleared the hotel room of all Beardsley’s memorabilia items, including signed photographs and baseballs.
The alleged victim adds, "I was directed at gunpoint to pack the items up.
"We didn’t have the suit there, thank God, because, if the suit was there, it would have been taken as well." Initial reports suggested Simpson and his associates broke into the suite, but the controversial star has said, "I took memorabilia that belonged to me…
but I didn’t break in." Simpson, who maintains the items taken were stolen from a storage locker owned by his late mother, claims no one was "roughed up" in the "sting operation" at the Palace Station.
He says, "What I can’t understand is these guys are in a room trying to fend stolen goods and I’m the story." Las Vegas Police officials confirm Simpson is helping them with their investigation.

TIMBALAND: `SPEARS SHOULD APOLOGISE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:06 am

Super producer TIMBALAND has ruled out a rumoured collaboartion between himself and former lovers JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE and BRITNEY SPEARS - until the TOXIC singer apologises for "dissing" him.
The hitmaker, who has become Timberlake’s regular sidekick, admits the two pals almost hit the studio with Spears to help her with a comeback record, but now insists chances of the dream collaboration happening are slim.
And it’s all because of the pop star’s attitude.
Timbaland tells MTV News, "It’ll never happen… It could’ve, but it won’t." In an interview earlier this year (07), the producer confessed he was seriously considering working with Spears, telling Entertainment Weekly magazine, "I just want to take her away, go overseas and work out." And he told the publication that his pal Timberlake was keen to get involved.
But the pair scrapped plans to help Britney out when she got "so big-headed, and (was) like, ‘Screw you, screw you, I don’t need nobody.’" But, without going into detail about what Spears did to upset him and Timberlake, Timbaland insists she could still salvage the situation if she apologises for her bad attitude.
He adds, "She should humble herself and make a phone call and say, `I’m sorry.’ She knows what she’s sorry about." "She needs to say, `I was wrong,’ and it’ll definitely move forward… That’s all she has to say."
