WATTS’ MIDWIFE RESEARCH PUT HER OFF CHILDBIRTH
Actress NAOMI WATTS had an all too graphic taste of childbirth before she went into labour by researching her new movie role as a midwife.
The Ring star discovered she was pregnant with boyfriend Liev Schreiber’s child two weeks into making thriller Eastern Promises - just after completing an exhaustive stint in a hospital delivery room.
Watts admits she actually donned medical scrubs and shadowed real midwives as they brought babies into the world.
She says, "It was intense… I felt guilty being in the rooms with those people.
"It was quite scary. I went in there and put my scrubs on… and they started asking me to do things, like adjust lights and move garbage." The research worked well for Watts’ film role, but she admits it put her off becoming a mum.
She tells USA Today newspaper, "Believe me, it made me not want to."
