50 Cent is facing retirement after being beaten by rival Kanye West in the pair’s chart battle.

The hip-hop stars both released their third studio albums on Tuesday (11.09.07), and Kanye’s ‘Graduation’ is currently outselling 50’s ‘Curtis’ by over 200,000 copies, when figures are added together from the US and UK.
50 – real name Curtis Jackson – recently vowed to retire if he did not come out on top in the chart battle.
He boldly announced: "If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, I’ll no longer write music. I’ll work with my other artists, but I won’t put out anymore solo albums." When it was revealed 50 was losing to Kanye, the 31-year-old star was reluctant to honour his promise, and instead blamed the defeat on his record label.
He said: ‘To be honest, the process of selling this record hasn’t been fun. I’m happy with the performance, but I’m not happy with the set up. It was the label. They’re dropping the ball all over the place. I’ll release my next album and then I’m a free agent.’ Rather than retire, 50 has vowed to "put his face paint on", and "go to war" with Kanye’s record label Def Jam.
He said: ‘If I ended up selling less than Kanye, I would release a new album every time Def Jam had a priority. I would release a record verses every one of their top priorities each time.
