R&B star KELLY ROWLAND has high praise for pop stars NATASHA BEDINGFIELD and AMY WINEHOUSE, because they are so "refreshing".
The former Destiny’s Child star admires the way British artists work so hard at achieving chart success in the U.S., and is impressed by the way Bedingfield and Winehouse have broken into the American market.
She says, "I love Natasha Bedingfield’s voice, she’s very talented. British singers are doing so well in the U.S. at the moment. Amy Winehouse is my favourite artist right now, she’s so refreshing. My sister told me about her and I was like, ‘Oh my God, this chick is fly!’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:48 pm

Rapper KANYE WEST is leading the battle of the charts against 50 CENT - his album GRADUATION is outselling his rivals by two to one.
Both hip-hop stars released their new LPs in the U.S. on Tuesday (11Sep07), and the Candy Shop rapper vowed to put down his microphone if he was beaten by West.
But 50 Cent may be forced to swallow his pride - West is winning the war, with Graduation predicted to sell 750,000 copies in its first week - 200,000 units more than 50’s projected sales figure, according to AllHipHop.com.

ANDERSON REFUSES TO GET INVOLVED WITH HUSBANDS’ SPAT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:45 pm

PAMELA ANDERSON insists she’s "staying out" of the public spat between former husbands KID ROCK and TOMMY LEE because their feud confuses her.
The former Baywatch babe’s boys had to be separated by security during Alicia Keys’ performance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night (09Sep07) when they started sparring in the audience.
Drummer Lee has since apologised to Keys, explaining the fight started when Rock, who has since been cited for his part in the fracas, lashed out at him.
Anderson, who had left the awards show before the fight started, refuses to speculate what Rock and Lee were scrapping about.
She says, "I presented Kanye (West) and then I got off the table and I left.
As soon as I left, they all went after each other. I’m so confused. I’m staying out of it… What are you gonna do? Boys!" Anderson thinks the trouble may have started when her first husband tried to get a little frisky: "He pulled me on his lap and spanked my butt." Lee married Anderson in 1995, before divorcing three years later (98) - while Anderson filed for divorce against Rock, real name Robert James Ritchie, just four months after they wed last August (06).

BRITNEY CRIED OVER VMAs PERFORMANCE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:45 pm

Pop star BRITNEY SPEARS was "inconsolable" after watching her widely-criticised comeback performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, it has been alleged. Spears kicked off proceedings at the Las Vegas event on Sunday (09Sep07) with her new single Gimme More.
But the performance was viewed by many as a disaster - not least, it seems, by the troubled star herself.
A backstage source tells Us Weekly, "She was able to see video of herself throughout the auditorium. She flipped out. She came running off the stage, yelling, ‘Oh, my God, I looked like a fat pig! I looked like a fat pig!’ She was inconsolable."

OSBOURNE REFUSES TO FOLLOW FAD DIETS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:42 pm

Singer/actress KELLY OSBOURNE will never fall victim to the latest diet craze, because the "crap" slimming programmes only make her more unhappy with her figure.
The chubby star has grown to accept her curves - including her double chin and believes celebrities who diet are destined for misery.
She tells British magazine Closer, "I don’t ever want to be one of those people on some crap fad diet. It’s not healthy. People on stupid diets are miserable - they’re hungry all the time. I’m happy and I’m fed."

CAMPBELL: ‘PETA WENT TOO FAR’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:42 pm

Supermodel NAOMI CAMPBELL has spoken out about her departure from the anti-fur campaign launched by animal rights activists in the mid-1990s, insisting she quit as spokeswoman because of the organisation’s crude tactics.
The catwalk star fronted the ‘I’d rather go naked than wear fur’ campaign by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), but was reportedly dropped shortly after the launch for wearing fur in a fashion show.
But Campbell now aims to set the record straight on the issue and remains defiant about her love of fur.
She says, "When PETA started targetting (Vogue editor) Anna Wintour and (designer) Karl Lagerfield and putting dead animals on their plate, I felt that they went too far and I thought, I didn’t want to be a part of this campaign anymore. (But) I do like wearing fur and I still do."

Actor DANIEL RADCLIFFE is not afraid of girls only dating him for his money because he has already learned how to spot the gold diggers.
The Harry Potter star has enjoyed increased female attention since taking on the role as the boy wizard, but insists he can easily spot those who are simply after his $46 million (£23 million) fortune.
He tells British radio station Heart: "That’s not a worry because it’s very easy to work out which girls those are.
"As long as you take everything they say with a pinch of salt, you’ll be fine."

DEMAND FOR LED ZEPPELIN TICKETS CRASHES SITE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:36 pm

LATEST: LED ZEPPELIN’s announcement of a one-off reunion show has caused the concert’s official website to crash - as millions of fans across the world rush to register their names for the ticket ballot.
The band revealed on Wednesday (12Sep07) plans to reform for a special tribute concert for late music mogul Ahmet Ertegun, 27 years after they split.
But the unprecedented demand for the gig has resulted in Ahmettribute.com closing down within minutes of going live at 4pm, because fans are so desperate to enter the ballot for one of 18,000 tickets.
At a special press conference in London on Wednesday, promoter Harvey Goldsmith predicted Led Zeppelin’s reunion concert would cause "the largest demand for one show in history".
Tickets are priced at $250 (£125) and are limited to two per person. The ballot will be conducted after registration for the gig closes on Monday (17Sep07).
The concert - which will also feature sets by Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings, Foreigner and Paolo Nutini - will take place at London’s O2 Arena on 26 November (07).
Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund which provides students with annual scholarships to universities in the U.K., USA and Turkey.
Ertegun died last December at the age of 82.

LED ZEPPELIN REFUSED TO REUNITE FOR SHORT SET

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:36 pm

LED ZEPPELIN refused to reunite for the tribute concert for late music mogul AHMET ERTEGUN unless they were allowed to play a full length set.
The legendary rockers announced plans to reform - 27 years after they split at a press conference in London on Wednesday (12Sep07), but only on the condition that they perform for longer than the obligatory 30-minutes.
And concert promoter Harvey Goldsmith willingly agreed to the demand because it was the wish of Ertegun’s widow, Mica, to have the band headline the gig.
Goldsmith recalls, "She wanted it to be all British bands to come together to honour her husband. She really wanted Led Zeppelin there because they haven’t reformed (since their split)." The long-awaited reunion will take place at London’s O2 Arena on 26 November (07), with proceeds from ticket sales going to the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund, providing students with annual scholarships to universities in the U.K., USA and Turkey.
Ertegun, the founder of Atlantic Records, died in December 2006 at the age of 82.

WINEHOUSE’S MOTHER ‘DOESN’T RECOGNISE’ HER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:15 pm

AMY WINEHOUSE’s mother JANIS is so estranged from her troubled daughter she "no longer recognises" her.
The Rehab singer has been taking time out from her career after her recent (Aug07) high-profile spells in hospital and much tabloid coverage of her reported drug problems.
And despite repeated pleas from her friends and family to seek professional help, 52-year-old Janis fears the soul star will not kick her alleged drug habit until it’s too late.
She says, "Amy is playing Russian roulette with her health and musical gift.
She’s lost herself. We’re not talking about my Amy. It’s not someone I recognise. She has become her own stage creation.
"I knew she was smoking marijuana but not that she was doing class A drugs until she collapsed.
"She won’t stop until she sees the point of stopping… when I saw her afterwards, I did not tell her to clean up, there was no point. Talking to her about it won’t make any difference."

FLEETWOOD MAC SINGER ‘SOLD SOUL TO THE DEVIL’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:12 pm

Former FLEETWOOD MAC singer STEVIE NICKS "sold her soul" to find success as a rock star - and concedes she missed out on a family as a result.
Nicks has no regrets in achieving her musical dreams at the cost of remaining unmarried and childless.
She says, "I pretty much sold my soul to the devil a long time ago. I chose not to have children." And Nicks claims music has taken the place of a man - but she doesn’t rule out the possibility of meeting someone special.
She says, "I am involved in a love affair all of the time with my music. If the right man walked into my life today and said, ‘Will you go out to dinner with me tonight?’ and I felt that thing, I would absolutely do it." EX-RAMONES MANAGER SUES GAY MAGAZINE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:12 pm

The former-manager of rock legends the RAMONES and IGGY POP has filed a $100 million (£50 million) lawsuit against an American gay magazine for publishing fake quotes portraying him as a "sexual predator".
Danny Fields filed the defamation suit against Out magazine in New York’s Manhattan Supreme Court earlier this month (Sep07).
The 65-year-old claims his career has been damaged beyond repair by the false allegations, which imply he bribed underage fans to have sex with him in exchange for meeting their idols.
The lifestyle magazine quotes Fields, who is openly homosexual, as saying: "I don’t remember ever being inhibited by saying, ‘I’m the manager of the band. If you want to meet them, come to my hotel room and sleep with me, and I’ll introduce you to them in the morning.’" But Fields - who was an influential figure in New York’s 1970s punk rock scene - denies ever saying this.
He tells the New York Post’s gossip column PageSix, "My reputation is ruined because Out has called me virtually a sexual predator. It is atrocious." "The implication is while my bands were playing, I was trawling the audience for kids… like I used the performances as an excuse to cruise and pick up underage teens. The quotes are also so ungrammatical. I would never even talk like that. I have advanced degrees in English literature… They gay-bashed me."

BIRKHEAD HAS NO PITY FOR VIRGIE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:12 pm

ANNA NICOLE SMITH’s ex-boyfriend LARRY BIRKHEAD is fuming after Smith’s estranged mother hit out at his decision to ban her from her granddaugher’s first birthday party.
Birkhead and Dannielynn celebrated the landmark last week (07Sep07), without Virgie Arthur.
Arthur - who is still fighting for custody of baby Dannielynn following Anna Nicole’s death in February (07) - has told reporters she was upset not to be involved in the occasion.
But photographer Birkhead, who was awarded Smith’s baby in April (07) after a lengthy paternity battle, has hit back at her comments - dubbing her a manipulative money-grabber with no right to expect an invitation.
He says, "Virgie knows exactly why she can’t see her granddaughter. It’s because she’s waging a custody battle against me in the Bahamas. It’d be a little awkward with her coming over to my house for dinner - ‘Virgie, pass the peas. By the way, see you in court next week.’ "She doesn’t want to be a grandmother, she wants to be a money manager. She can continue to play poor-pitiful-me games to anyone who’ll listen, I’m not buying it.
"Dannielynn has (paternal) grandmothers who are all supportive, you don’t see them dragging me through every courthouse."

JACKSON SONG GUILTY OF PLAGIARISM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:09 pm

MICHAEL JACKSON has lost the rights to his song YOU ARE NOT ALONE - because a European court has ruled the R. KELLY-penned 1995 track is "largely similar" to one written by Belgian twins two years before (93).
A Brussels court ruled on Tuesday (11Sep07) that rights to Jackson’s hit single will now be transferred over to brothers Eddy and Danny Van Passel - but the order will only be applied in Belgium, reports gossip website TheCelebrityTruth.com.
In a court document investigating the plagiarism case, it states: "The largest part of the melody is identical. There is a strong similarity." However, the twin composers - who have been fighting to gain recognition for their work for the last 12 years - are likely to find it difficult getting their hands on the song royalties, because of the length of time which has passed since the single’s release.
You Are Not Alone was released in August 1995 and became the first ever single to debut at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.
