Singer AMY WINEHOUSE’s eating disorder is becoming more of a worry than her alleged drug problem, the star’s friends have claimed.
Winehouse has been taking time out from her career after her recent (Aug07) high-profile spells in hospital and much tabloid coverage of her reported drug problems.
But pals of the Rehab hitmaker are now terrified the 23-year-old will never recover from the bulimia that she has struggled with since her teens.
Hairdresser friend Alex Foden claims the skeletal soul star is still battling the eating disorder - and husband Blake Fielder-Civil is at a loss as to how to help.
He tells British magazine Closer, "They’ve been rowing a lot over the bulimia - not the drugs. They wanted to leave London for some peace and quiet." And Foden blames the pressure of fame for Winehouse’s crippling illness.
He adds, "When Amy shot to fame she was a size 10 and people called her fat.
"Celebs say they don’t read their own press, but they do. She’s managed to put on a little weight recently, but it’s an ongoing battle."

KELLY OSBOURNE has defended her pal KATE MOSS, insisting the supermodel is not the wild child the media have made her out to be.
The singer-turned-actress is close friends with Moss and says the catwalk star - mother to four-year-old Lila Grace - is far more protective and maternal than her partying ways would lead you to believe.
She tells British magazine Closer, "We were on holiday in Spain recently and there was a full staff there, but she got up every morning, made her own breakfast, cleared it up and then made breakfast for other people.
"Kate made me scrambled eggs in bed one day when I wasn’t feeling well. I think people forget she’s a mum. I felt terrible, and she put me in bed and sat with me. She’s a good person."

LATEST: PRISON BREAK star LANE GARRISON has been moved to the Twin Towers jail in Los Angeles to await sentencing in relation to charges of vehicular manslaughter.
The 27-year-old actor was transferred to the Twin Towers Correctional Facility last week (07Sep07) after completing an enforced 90-day psychiatric evaluation behind bars to determine whether he is suitable for parole.
Spokeswoman Terry Thornton from California’s Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation confirms: "Lane Garrison has completed his diagnostic commitment and was turned over to Los Angeles County authorities on Friday." Garrison has pleaded guilty to charges of vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence, driving under the influence and providing alcohol to a minor in August (07), following the car crash which killed 17-year-old Vahagn Setian in December 2006.
He will discover his fate on 31 October (07) when he is due to be sentenced at Los Angeles County Superior Court.

MICHAEL JACKSON’s mother has hit out at reports of the singer’s alleged drug and alcohol problems, dismissing the accusations as "troubling and heinous".
The Thriller star is said to have developed a dependency on drink and painkillers, forcing his family to step in to look after his business affairs, according to reports in U.S. magazine, People.
But Katherine Jackson - supported by her sons Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Jackie - has blasted the claims as "inaccurate" and "defamatory", insisting the publications making the false accusations are only motivated by financial gains.
In a statement issued by Jackson’s representative, Raymone K. Bain, Katherine also calls for an end to the rumours.
She says: "People magazine has followed other publications in reporting untrue and inaccurate information about Michael Jackson and the Jackson family.
"Of these widely reported rumors, what has become the most troubling and heinous, is that my son, and our brother, Michael Jackson, is dependent on painkillers and alcohol. People, and other news organizations, have quoted ’sources’ indicating that our family has attempted a drug intervention, and engaged in an effort to take over his business affairs, because of this alleged drug and alcohol usage.
"We categorically deny ever planning, participating in, or having knowledge of any kind of intervention, whatsoever. We strongly believe that these ’sources’ and others, no matter who they are, are making these defamatory, inaccurate, and untrue claims for monetary reasons.
"Michael Jackson, and the Jackson family, has endured years of false accusations and misrepresentations. It is time for these unfair and hurtful rumors, for profit, to end."

LATEST: TOMMY LEE has issued a public apology to ALICIA KEYS, blaming KID ROCK for "disrespecting" the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (09Sep07).
A scuffle broke out between Lee and his former love rival during Key’s performance at the awards show in Las Vegas, where Rock was later cited for misdemeanour battery for throwing a punch at the Motley Crue drummer.
The reason for Rock’s outburst was previously unknown, but Lee insists it all started because the Picture star - who he dubs ‘Kid Pebble’ - is jealous of his relationship with their ex-wife Pamela Anderson.
Speaking on his website TommyLee.tv, he says, "Here I am minding my own (business) having a great time with my friend (magician) Criss Angel and watching the MTV awards in the front row…
"Pamela (Anderson) comes and sits on my lap, who I love and adore… I get a tap on the shoulder form Kid Pebble. I stand up and embrace him with a semi-hug and say, ‘Hey dude, what up?’ "He punches me in the face… (but it was) more like a bitch slap! Anyway, I go to knock this jealous no-career havin’ country bumpkin the f**k out… and before I can have a meeting with my fist and his ugly-ass mug, security guards at the Palms grab me and haul my ass outta the award show threatening me that if I move they’ll break my arm.

U.S. soap star KIRSTEN STORMS has become the latest celebrity busted for driving under the influence.
The longtime Days of Our Lives star, 23, was pulled over in her Mercedes after a traffic cop spotted her throwing a cigarette out of her window.
According to the police report, obtained by TMZ.com, officers "noticed the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle." Storms was arrested for DUI, taken to Van Nuys Jail and later released on $5,000 (£2,500) bail.

Director JOHN McTIERNAN has dramatically withdrawn his guilty plea in relation to charges of lying to the FBI, blaming the u-turn on lack of legal representation when he made the admission last year (06).
The Die Hard filmmaker continues to deny all knowledge of private investigator Anthony Pellicano’s illegal activities in 2000, although he has previously (Apr06) admitted to hiring the spy to gather information on Rollerball producer Charles Roven.
McTiernan’s lawyers are now appealing to have his plea changed to not guilty - 17 months after he first entered the plea - arguing that the U.S.
government’s case against the director relies on inadmissible evidence, and therefore should never have come to trial.
Appearing before U.S. District Court Judge Dale S. Fischer on Monday (10Sep07), his attorney Cornell Price claims McTiernan "should never have been charged with a criminal offence".
Price added: "(McTiernan) is not a legal scholar. He is a moviemaker." The 56-year-old is due back in court for sentencing on 24 September (07), when a judge will rule on the plea withdrawal. He faces six months in jail if his plea is not overturned and he is found guilty.
Pellicano is accused on 111 counts of wiretapping and police bribery, targeting stars including Sylvester Stallone, Keith Carradine and Garry Shandling - all of which he denies. He faces up to 20 years behind bars if he is convicted of the crimes.

PINK FLOYD legend DAVID GILMOUR learned how to rock by copying the BEATLES on a borrowed guitar.
Despite carving a niche in prog rock, Gilmour idolised the Fab Four and learned all of their early hits - after borrowing his first instrument from his next-door neighbour.
Speaking at the launch of his DVD, Remember That Night - Live At The Royal Albert Hall, the 61-year-old revealed, "I borrowed my first guitar of a neighbour and never gave it back. I’ve still got it actually.

GALLOWS frontman FRANK CARTER is to quit the British rock band - so he can pursue his passion as a tattoo artist.
The singer plans to embark on a new career in body ink in the next year or two but insists he won’t be retiring from his "hobby" as a rocker just yet.
He says, "We’ll definitely write and record the next album. And I’d like to make a third. But as I said, tattooing is my life.
"Gallows is not my life. Never has been, never will. It’s a hobby I get paid for. I’m a tattoo artist - that will always be my life and job. Being in a band is something I do for fun. I quit the band four times before we signed to a major label. Gallows won’t last five years."

Rapper LUDACRIS has been forced to cancel a forthcoming gig in Boston, Massachusetts, because of poor ticket sales.
The Stand Up star - real name Christopher Bridges - was due to play at the Eastern States Exposition on 30 September (07), but the concert has now been pulled due to lack of demand.
President of the venue, Wayne McCary, says the show had to be called off because only 700 tickets for the 6,100-capacity arena had been sold.

KELLY OSBOURNE has revealed the secret to her svelte new look - landing a theatre role and throwing away her microwave.
Weight has dropped off Osbourne since she began rehearsals for her role as Mama Morton in the West End production of Chicago. She also reveals a healthier diet has helped her slim down.

"I don’t ever want to be one of those people on some crap fad diet. It’s not healthy. People on stupid duets are miserable - they’re hungry all the time.
I’m happy and I’m fed." But she insists she will never be stick thin: "In the words of Bridget Jones, I will always be a little fat and I don’t care. When you’re my height, a couple of pounds off or on does make a difference. I’ll always have a double chin in a pap shot, no matter how I look."

Rapper/actress EVE is launching her own film production company later this year (07) - so she can retire from the entertainment industry financially secure.
The 28-year-old has forged a successful career as a screen star with roles in Barber Shop, XXX and The Woodsman, and although she has no plans to quit Hollywood just yet, she admits setting up her own production firm is all in preparation for the future.
