SPEARS URGED ‘TO BEHAVE’ AT VMAs

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:15 pm

MTV bosses have pleaded with pop star BRITNEY SPEARS to "behave" at Sundays (09Sep07) Video Music Awards, according to reports.
The Toxic singer confirmed an appearance at the ceremony on Thursday (06Sep07). MTV bosses announced the troubled star would make her live music comeback onstage at the event with a performance of Gimme More, the first single from her upcoming fifth album.
But Spears has allegedly been warned if she fails to behave appropriately in the run-up to the VMAs, her performance will be pulled from the show.
A source tells the New York Daily News, "Britney knows she’s on thin ice.
When they agreed to the performance, they sat her down and told her she should not be going out, and instead focus on rehearsing and resting.
"She seemed to be thankful and appreciative for the chance, but who knows her? MTV made it clear her usual behaviour will not be tolerated." Despite being spotted partying in Las Vegas earlier this week (ends09Sep07), her cousin Ali Simms insists Spears is taking her VMA performance seriously.
Simms says, "Her performance will be huge. She’s very excited."

MORTENSEN PRAISES CO-STAR WATTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:15 pm

Actor VIGGO MORTENSEN has lavished praise on NAOMI WATTS - for refusing to develop a preoccupation with how she looks.
The Lord of the Rings star Mortensen worked with Watts on new David Cronenburg movie Eastern Promises, and was impressed how the Britain-born beauty successfully combined intelligence with her good looks, and never got distracted from her performance.
He says, "Watts has beauty and brains, she can’t really not look attractive.
What I respect is that not only does she act really well in the movie but she looks like she has that job." "Everybody talks about how people look, the dress they wear and ‘I hated her hair!’ and all this kind of stupid stuff. It’s very distracting, I think, for a performer - especially actresses. In some cases, that preoccupation with image carries over into movies and ruins even good performances, but never with Watts."

CLOONEY THREATENS TO ‘MURDER’ PITT OVER NEW MOVIE COVERAGE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:12 pm

Movie star GEORGE CLOONEY has threatened to ‘murder’ BRAD PITT if he steals the limelight in their new film BURN AFTER READING.
The pair have appeared together before - most recently in 2007’s Ocean’s 13 but Clooney is worried his performance will be overshadowed by that of the blonde Mr & Mrs Smith star. He says, "I’m working with him right now on this Coen brothers movie, which kills me because he’s going to steal the movie and I’m going to murder him." But Clooney insists it’s not just Pitt who he worries about - adding he’d love to "kick Matt Damon’s ass." He explains, "It’s a weird thing, but you try not to compete in art. It always seems kind of strange. I could never do the things that he (Pitt) does, ever. I do have some competition with Matt Damon - I’d like to kick his ass," Clooney smiled.

THORNTON & ZEVON FIGHT OVER OCD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:12 pm

BILLY BOB THORNTON and late pal WARREN ZEVON had late-night fights about who was the bigger obsessive compulsive disorder sufferer.
Movie star Thornton has paid tribute to his own quirks in Always Countin’, a song on his new album Beautiful Door, but he admits tragic rocker Zevon may have been even worse than him.
The actor reveals, "Warren had it really bad. We used to have wars over who had it worse.
"He finally won. He said to me, ‘Do you have it with guns?’ I said, ‘No, you win.’" Explaining his late pal’s gun quirk in Penthouse magazine, Thornton adds, "(He was like) ‘If I don’t shoot that beam right there twice before 3.30…’ that kind of thing.
"My OCD is kind of odd. It has less to do with numbers, more about angles. If you told most people to walk and sit the way I do, they’d have you think about every step."

FORMER SNOW PATROL MEMBER SUES BAND

SPECTOR: ‘I’LL BE FOUND GUILTY BECAUSE THE JUDGE AND JURY DON’T LIKE ME’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:03 pm

LATEST: Music producer PHIL SPECTOR has slammed the judge and jury overseeing his murder trial - insisting they will find him guilty because they ‘don’t like him’.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Larry Fidler ruled last week (ends07Sep07) jurors can only consider whether the music producer is guilty of second-degree murder or not; they cannot consider manslaughter charges against the star, who is accused of the fatal shooting of B-movie actress Lana Clarkson at his Alhambra, California mansion in 2003.
Spector alleges Fidler’s attitude is that of a foregone conclusion - that he is guilty, despite his pleas to the contrary.
He says, "The judge doesn’t like me. He’s already said that if I made a plea bargain he’d give me eight years. Because someone died. "And he keeps saying that every time I go in court. To the jurors, the first thing out of his mouth was, "Remember today we’re here because someone died.
Even though I was 8 feet (2.44 metres) away from her when she died, and it can be proved forensically I didn’t kill her, it doesn’t matter. Somebody died, somebody killed her. That’s his frame of reference. That’s what he thinks." And Spector believes those sitting on the jury are biased - with their Republican loyalties harming his chances of being released a free man.
He explains, "When you are accused, you are guilty, and that’s just the way it goes. "I went to the jury selection when they interviewed the first 300 jurors. We had a jury questionnaire that they filled out, 45 per cent of them wrote they believed I was guilty and 20 per cent wrote that I was insane.
"The only thing that concerns me is the verdict. And for that I’m in the hands of 12 people who voted for George Bush."
