Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:24 am

Late opera legend LUCIANO PAVAROTTI is to be posthumously honoured by the Italian government for his role in promoting the country’s culture.
The 71-year-old, who died on Thursday (06Sep07) after a long battle with pancreatic cancer, will receive the Excellence in Italian Culture Award, the Culture Ministry announced on Tuesday (04Sep07).
Pavarotti is also set to be hailed in a singing contest organised by the La Scala opera house in Milan and a theatre in his hometown of Modena in northern Italy to pay tribute to the star.
A statement from La Scala says, "It is a precious chance to pay homage to the career of Luciano Pavarotti, a symbol of Italian music in the world." Pavarotti made his first performance at La Scala more than 40 years ago.
