LOPEZ BREACH OF CONTRACT DAMAGES CONFIRMED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:18 am

A judge has confirmed JENNIFER LOPEZ will receive $545,000 (£272,500) after the singer/actress filed a lawsuit to prevent her first husband OJANI NOA from publishing memoirs, in which he planned to reveal his ex was unfaithful.
In court papers, filed in Los Angeles last month (Aug07), an arbitrator awarded Lopez $200,000 (£100,000) in damages, with the remainder covering her legal costs.
A judge confirmed this decision on Wednesday (05Sep07), adding that Noa should be permanently banned from "criticising, denigrating" or casting Lopez "in a negative light".
Lopez filed her breach of contract suit against Noa, fearing his book would have violated a previous settlement that bars him from revealing details of their relationship.
She claimed Noa asked for $5 million (£2.5 million) not to publish the tome.
Noa and Lopez were divorced in 1998 after less than a year of marriage. Noa went on to become the manager of his ex-wife’s Pasadena, California restaurant Madre’s. but later quit.
