KIDMAN: ‘URBAN REHAB WAS JUST ANOTHER TWIST IN MY LIFE’
NICOLE KIDMAN has spoken out about her husband KEITH URBAN’s lengthy rehab stint, hoping the experience will encourage other couples in trouble to seek help.
Urban checked into the Betty Ford Clinic in California last year (06) after confessing he’d relapsed in his efforts to beat alcoholism.
The scandal happened just months after Urban and Kidman were married last summer (06), and presented a big test for the newlyweds.
But Kidman admits she was ready for the big challenge: "It was just another twist in my life: ‘Here it goes. Hold on, and off we go!’ "But it was very painful, deeply painful. We were in a very, very, very bad, painful place, and have managed to step through it.
"I hope that gives some people some hope who may be in the same place." She tells Vanity Fair magazine, "I’ve learned an enormous amount having a relationship with someone who is in recovery. I’m more than willing to walk it with him. The two of us are very committed to our relationship."
