LATEST: JANE SEYMOUR’s neighbours have hit back at claims they are feuding with the actress simply to gain fame, accusing the star of refusing to talk to them directly.
The former Bond girl upset locals near Bath, England, in May (07) when she applied for a 24-hour alcohol and entertainment license for her venue St Catherine’s Court, which is rented out for functions.
Seymour told British newspaper The Sunday Times her neighbours were simply attention seekers, adding, "By attacking a celebrity, they got to be famous." Ian Plaister, chairman of St Catherine’s Parish Council, who are attempting to block her license application, has hit back, fuming, "It’s rather frustrating and extremely surprising that she has decided to say these things when she won’t say a word to us.
"We have asked to talk to her on three separate occasions, but every time we have received the same answer - ‘talk to her lawyers’."

Virgin Records founder SIR RICHARD BRANSON is positive his adventurer pal STEVE FOSSETT is alive and "waiting" to be rescued after he went missing in the Nevada desert on Monday (03Sep07).
Fossett, 63, took off from a ranch in a single-engine aircraft in an attempt to set a world land speed record on Monday morning and was officially reported missing on Tuesday (04Sep07).
America’s Federal Aviation Administration said Fossett had not submitted a flight plan, nor communicated with air traffic controllers.
Commander Douglas Russell of the Naval Air Station, Fallon, says, "It’s rough, mountainous terrain there, there are not a lot of roads out there, rocky; picture if you will Afghanistan." Fossett’s friend and sometime partner Branson says, "Steve is a tough old boot. I suspect he is waiting by his plane right now for someone to pick him up. Based on his track record, I feel confident we’ll get some good news soon." The search will resume at first light on Wednesday (05Sep07).

LATEST: Former SOPRANOS star MICHAEL IMPERIOLI is "completely baffled" following a pipe bomb blast outside his New York theatre Studio Dante.
Imperioli and his wife Victoria rushed to the scene after the bomb exploded outside the building at 1am on Tuesday morning (04Sep07).
The actor tells the New York Daily News, "I don’t know anything about this bomb in front of my theatre. I’m completely baffled.
"I told (police) all I know, which is basically nothing. It’s terrible, this whole day felt like an hallucination. It’s surreal. We have the greatest police force in the world. I’m confident they will come up with something." No one was injured during the blast, but local residents were left shaken.

Former basketball ace SHAQUILLE O’NEAL has filed for divorce from his wife SHAUNIE NELSON after five years of marriage.
The Miami heat player, 35, filed a divorce petition through his lawyer Ira Elegant in Miami-Dade Circuit Court, Florida, on Tuesday (04Sep07).
O’Neal’s petition shows the couple signed a pre-nuptial agreement ahead of their December 2002 wedding in Beverly Hills, California.
O’Neal accuses his estranged wife of being "secretive about her assets…
particularly with respect to certain properties owned or titled in either (her) name alone or in other entities".
The sports star is demanding Nelson give lawyers "correct accounting of all money, funds, stocks, bonds, and other securities (including bearer securities)" she obtained during their marriage.
O’Neal has recommended his wife take "primary residential custody" of their four children Shareef, seven; Amirah, five; Shaqir, four; and Me’Arah, one.

Rocker ALICE COOPER turned down the opportunity to bed late screen star MAE WEST - because he wasn’t sure if the former sex symbol was truly feminine.
Cooper - who starred alongside the veteran actress in the movie Sextette in 1978 - reveals West was very keen to romance the then 30-year-old singer and even invited him back to her trailer - an offer the star vehemently refused.
He says, "Did she come onto me? You bet she did. We ended one of our scenes and Mae whispered to me, ‘Why don’t you come on back to my trailer?’ I said, ‘Because you’re 86-years-old and I’m not sure if you’re a woman or not!’" West died in 1980, aged 87.

SHARON OSBOURNE will quit British talent show THE X FACTOR next year (08) because she is "fed up" with fellow judge SIMON COWELL’s attempts to create friction between herself and DANNII MINOGUE, according to reports.
Osbourne has previously been rumoured to be at odds with Minogue - the latest addition to the show’s judging panel - but Cowell recently (Aug07) denied the two are hiding a bitter rift and insisted there have been "no rows".
But Osbourne is said to be ready to move onto new projects and is planning to leave the TV contest in 2008.
A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "Sharon has been shuttling between L.A. and the U.K. while filming X Factor and America’s Got Talent, so she didn’t feel quite ‘in’ with everyone during recording.
"And she’s fed up with Cowell trying to put her against Dannii. She feels that it’s time to move on." Another insider adds, "She wanted to keep this quiet as she makes her final decision. But she’s now set to announce it in the second part of her autobiography. She hasn’t fallen out with anyone, but thinks it’s time to go." The news comes days after producers behind the show denied claims by Osbourne’s brother Don Arden alleging that the rock matriarch had been briefly fired from the programme after the first season.

Troubled rapper REMY MA has laughed off reports she gatecrashed actress VIVICA A. FOX’s 43rd birthday party last month (Aug07), insisting she was invited to the star-studded bash.
The hip-hop star, real name Remy Smith, was allegedly thrown out of the party at New York’s Sol nightclub after clashing with the Kill Bill beauty.
However, Smith tells AllHipHop.com her friendship with Fox is good and she believes the club’s owner took exception to her presence because of her recent arrest for allegedly shooting her neighbour outside another Manhattan nightspot.
Smith says, "I had an invitation to the party weeks before - RSVP’d weeks before.
"I did like 25 minutes; I couldn’t get off the red carpet. There were so many pictures, questions, all that, ’cause that was the first time people had seen me out at a big event since everything with the case. Something personal with the owner of the club (happened), I guess, because with my case, he didn’t want me in the club.
"Vivica was not talking. It was her publicist. He was probably related to the same owner of the little bar or club or whatever people claim whatever happened in. That’s the only thing I can think of.
"I was nothing but cute."

The Famous Last Words star, 30, was wed backstage at a gig in Denver, Colorado on Monday (03Sep07) by a concert promoter named Amy, who is an ordained minister, according to gossip blogger PerezHilton.com.
Gerard’s brother and bandmate Mikey also married his wife Alicia Simmons backstage at a gig in Las Vegas in May (07) and is currently taking time of the rock band to enjoying life as husband and wife.

Mercury Music Prize winners KLAXONS have hit out at AMY WINEHOUSE’s performance at Tuesday’s (04Sep07) award ceremony - accusing her of drawing attention away from their win.
The nominated singer appeared onstage at the London event for the first time in weeks, after high profile spells in hospital and rehab and much tabloid coverage of her ‘drug addiction’.
But Klaxons star Jamie Reynolds wished she had stayed away, so the event could focus on music.
He says, "I think it took the focus away from the fact that the Mercury Music Prize is about the music.
"Amy is an amazing artist but coming in this afternoon and hearing questions about whether Amy will turn up or not is boring. It’s just a shame."

R&B star RIHANNA reduced a crew member on the set of the video for UMBRELLA to tears because she was "the most incredible thing she had ever seen".
The singer, 19, was decorated in silver paint for part of the video accompanying the hit single, and director Chris Applebaum admits the sight made those on-set extremely emotional.
He says, "I had one eye in the camera and the other one was closed. And I heard this odd sound, and so I opened the other eye and looked down, and the camera assistant was crying.
"So after the take, I asked her if she was OK, and she looked at me and said, ‘Chris, this is just so beautiful. I just can’t believe I’m actually watching this. This is the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen.’ And it really felt to me like we were shooting something unique at that moment."

BRITNEY SPEARS will mark her pop comeback with a magical performance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (09Sep07), according to reports.
The singer has been in the music wilderness since 2003, when her fourth studio album was released. Since then she has only released a greatest hits album and an LP of remixes - and she has become better known for her personal struggles.
But a U.S. newspaper claims Spears has choreographed a comeback and will perform two songs - new single Gimme More and another track Cry - at the ceremony in Los Angeles.
Spears’ dancer Ruben Dario tells USA Today that the stage show will be choreographed by magician Criss Angel, who will set up mirrors to allow the Spears to appear and disappear.

Veteran British actor SIR MICHAEL CAINE has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award by men’s magazine GQ.
The 74-year-old Alfie star was presented with the gong by Jude Law at a ceremony in the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden on Tuesday (04Sep07) night.
Other winners included James McAvoy, who was named Lab Series New Leading Man of the Year award, Kanye West for International Man of the Year, and Orlando Bloom, who was lauded with the Editor’s Special Award.
Sir Elton John hosted the awards, which were also attended by Madonna, who present a trophy at the event.

Veteran actor SIR ROGER MOORE envies his JAMES BOND successors PIERCE BROSNAN and DANIEL CRAIG - because they have made more money from the superspy role than he did.
Moore, 79, played the action star in seven movies in the Bond franchise during the 1970s and 1980s and would love to have enjoyed the financial benefits of modern-day actors - who typically command six-figure salaries per film.
He says, "I made seven Bond films and they were all successful. Maybe I could have done one of Pierce Brosnan’s - or rather I could have done with one of Pierce’s pay cheques!" But Moore believes Craig - the latest Bond star - is worth every bit of his movie fee, because he wouldn’t have been able to pull off the kind of stunts shown in 2006’s Casino Royale.
He adds, "Jumping across cranes and the building site - I don’t have that sort of energy. Daniel Craig deserves every penny of his salary for that alone."

Belgian movie BEN X has been awarded three awards at the Montreal Film Festival in Canada, including the event’s top honour.
Nic Balthazar’s directorial debut garnered praise for its portrayal of a mildly autistic boy being bullied at school, winning the Audience Award, the festival’s Ecumenical Prize, and shared the Grand Prix of America’s prize.
French Director Claude Miller shared the Grand Prix of Americas prize with Balthazar for The Secret, the story of a Jewish family during World War II, at the festival which closed on Monday (03Sep07).

JAMIE FOXX stunned journalists and members of the public last week (ends31Aug07) when he banned them from sharing his elevator, according to reports.
The Ray star was appearing at L.A.’s Four Season’s Hotel to promote his new movie The Kingdom, and insisted he travelled in the building’s lifts without being hassled by fellow guests.
A source tells the New York Daily News’ Page Six, "He told guests of the hotel and journalists to leave the elevator. Then, at every floor where the elevator stopped, the bodyguard would stand with his arm stretched out and say, ‘You can’t enter’ to anyone who tried to get in. A lot of us were like, ‘Who does Jamie think he is?’" However a spokesperson for the star has denied the incident, insisting, "There were four to five people in the elevator with Foxx at the time and rushing to get to interviews to promote his film."

Producers have been forced to delay the next series of DOCTOR WHO until 2009, to allow its star to concentrate on other projects.
Leading man David Tennant has signed up to appear on stage as Hamlet in a new Royal Shakespeare Company production - a move which will see the actor unable to commit to his fifth Doctor Who series until 2009.
Tennant, 36, has played the Doctor since 2005 - but it’s rumoured he will leave the show after filming finishes on Season four, which is set to air next year (08).

Filmmakers in Finland have vowed to take strike action after the country’s government failed to pledge funding for locally-produced movies.
Twenty-three protesters claim Finnish law-makers have reneged on a promise to increase movie subsidies by 1.2 million euros (£809,000/$1.78 million) - and have refused to make any more movies until more funding is made available to them.
But Stefan Wallin, Finnish culture minister, admits a decision has not yet been made.
He says, "All the needs of culture and various fields of arts must be examined in a fair manner." The filmmakers insists local independent cinema will suffer without government funding.

AMERICAN IDOL winner CARRIE UNDERWOOD is sick of being labelled a "party girl" every time she is photographed with a drink in her hand.
The 24-year-old country star urges fans not to buy into tabloid hype, and realise she is human.
Underwood says, "It’s really awkward to think, ‘Oh, gosh, somebody is going to snap a picture of me dancing and then they’ll say I’m a party girl,’ which I’m not.
"You have to think about everything you do, and if you decide to go ahead and do it anyway, realise that everybody is going to talk about it the next day.
