Pop legends SIR ELTON JOHN and MADONNA have finally called a truce on their bitter three year feud.
The row erupted after the bespectacled singer publicly accused the Material Girl of lip-synching on her tours during a foul mouthed outburst at a London awards ceremony in 2004.
He denounced Madonna’s Reinvention tour at the Q Awards, declaring, "Madonna, best f**king live act? F**k off. Since when has lip-synching been live? That’s me off her f**king Christmas card list but do I give a toss? No." But the superstars put an end to the fall out with an onstage embrace at Wednesday’s (04Sep07) GQ Men of the Year Awards, which John was hosting.
He introduced Madonna by declaring their row was over: "This is a moment you thought you would you would never see." But John couldn’t resist one last jibe, revealing that after their dispute he had "written a grovelling apology and offered to join the Kabbalah".

Actress CLARE DANES has criticised ROBERT DE NIRO’s dances moves after working with him in their new film STARDUST.
Danes praised the Hollywood great for his acting ability, but was far from impressed by his moves on the dancefloor.

Socialite PARIS HILTON was lavished with praise by murderers during her 23-day prison stint in June (07).
Hilton was jailed at the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, California after being found guilty of violating her probation stemming from a 2006 drink driving arrest.
The Simple Life star admits she was touched when fellow inmates told her she didn’t belong behind bars.
She says, "We were all in cells, and I would talk to them in passing and they would say, ‘I love you, God bless you, it’s ridiculous you’re in here. I’m here for murder, what the hell is going on?’ "People thought the judge was totally out of order."

BRAD PITT was disgusted to see extensive coverage of socialite PARIS HILTON’s stint in jail on U.S. TV network CNN in June (07).
Pitt, partner Angelina Jolie and their four children, Maddox, Zahara, Pax and Shiloh spent the month in France, blissfully unaware of the socialite’s latest drama.
When they returned to their native U.S., Pitt turned on CNN expecting to see coverage of international events, such as war in Iraq, and couldn’t believe the attention Hilton’s prison sentence had attracted.
He tells America’s Details magazine, "This Paris Hilton quest for fame. She’s blissfully obvious.
"Oh my god, we’ve been away for… Where were we? We hadn’t seen television for like a month. I’m probably exaggerating.
"And we just got back to the United States. And we turned on CNN. And on comes Paris Hilton, going to jail. And so we just turned it off again."

British actor SIMON PEGG is dismayed at his new film Run, Fatboy, Run’s obvious use of corporate sponsorship.
The London-set film features a marathon called the Nike River Run and his character Dennis is given a brand new pair of Nike trainers to run in.
The actor says, "The problem was we couldn’t use the London Marathon, because they are tied up in another movie. So we had to invent this run.
"I cringed every time I came on set and there was all this corporate sponsorship everywhere."

Hollywood star JOHN CUSACK believes he has only made 10 good films, despite spending over 25 years in the film industry.
Cusack, 41, counts Grosse Point Blank and Being John Malkovich amongst his best work, but admits he is embarrassed of a majority of his filmography.
He says, "I’ve made 10 good films. The ones that suck I tend to blank out.
It’s like I never even made them.
"Well, there aren’t 40 that are great, put it that way.
"But that’s fine. Ten is a good battling average."

LATEST: Wrestler CHRIS BENOIT’s hard knocks in the ring turned the tragic star into a crazed killing machine, according to new tests.
The former World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion took his own life after killing his wife and son at the family home in June (07) - and now toxicology results show the fighter was deeply troubled.
A press conference has been scheduled for later on Wednesday (05Sep07), but early reports suggest experts will conclude Benoit suffered from chronic brain trauma, which triggered huge emotional swings.
The diagnosis is common in the sports world, especially with boxers, American footballers and wrestlers, who take regular poundings on the field and in the ring.
The trauma can lead to depression and dementia and erratic behaviour.
Benoit, 40, suffered a pattern of concussions during his wrestling career.

Australian singer NATALIE IMBRUGLIA clashed with her manager over the cover shot for her new album.
Imbruglia’s greatest hits album, Glorious: The Singles 97-07, features the singer on a beach in a sultry pose.
However, the Torn hitmaker admits she would have preferred her face stay off the cover, but her manager’s decision was final.
She says, "We disagreed over which picture to put on the cover of my new album. In the end, I gave in, as the rest of the group agreed with his choice when we put it to a vote. Personally, I’d have preferred to put some artwork on the cover, but my record label insisted that it had to be a picture of me, so my manager won that argument."

American country singer CARRIE UNDERWOOD has played down reports of a romance with American footballer TONY ROMO, insisting the pair are just "really good friends".

LATEST: Troubled rapper BUSTA RHYMES will have to wait till November (07) for stand trial on charges of assault, driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license.
The hip-hop star, real name Trevor Smith, appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court in New York on Wednesday (05Sep07), expecting to stand trial over four separate incidents.
Smith is accused of beating fan LeBron James on Randall’s Island, New York in July 2006 and his driver Eddie Hatchett in December (06).
In February (07), he was arrested for allegedly driving on a suspended license and aggravated driving, then three months later (May07), he was stopped again and charged with driving while ability impaired and driving while intoxicated.
The same month, he rejected a plea deal to spend 12 months in jail for all charges.
In court on Wednesday, Judge Larry Stevens delayed the trial until 7 November (07) after both the prosecution and defence said they weren’t ready.

Superstar MARIAH CAREY is being sued by her former manager JERRY BLAIR, who claims the singer owes him money.
Blair was employed as the president of Carey’s Monar C Entertainment firm, but his contract was terminated after the release of her record-breaking comeback album The Emancipation Of Mimi in 2007.
A source tells the New York Daily News, "Jerry stood by Mariah through her breakdown (in 2001). He believed in her when other people lost faith.
"(After the success of Mimi) she wanted to distance herself from anybody who saw her in those dark times." Blair claims Carey owes him a percentage of her record and tour profits.
The source adds, "She hasn’t paid him in two years. He had to call in lawyers." Blair is now working with Carey’s ex-husband, music mogul Tommy Mottola at his Casablanca Records label.

Pitt, 43, admits the trials and tribulations of life in his 30s have contributed to his sudden ageing.
He tells American magazine Details, "One thing sucks, your face kind of goes.
Your body’s not quite working the same.
"But you earned it. You earned that, things falling apart." In the last three years, Pitt has transformed from Jennifer Aniston’s husband to a father-of-four, partner of Angelina Jolie and an anti-poverty campaigner.
He explains, "Maybe I had a crisis earlier or something. Maybe I had it in my 30s.
"I carried the standard cynicism. But it was also feeling like, I can’t sit on my couch anymore, I’m going crazy. This thing I’m doing with my life, it’s very nice. But it’s not doing it for me.
"(Trying to help the world is) something that brought Angie and I together certainly - she’s absolute evidence for me of someone facilitating changes for the better."
