Camilla, the wife of Britain’s Prince Charles, feels she was badly advised by aides who insisted she would be attending the ceremony - held last Friday (31.08.07) to mark the 10th anniversary of her death - until last Sunday (26.08.07).
The 60-year-old royal vowed to get her revenge on palace officials by telling them: ‘Just wait until I’m queen.’ Camilla then allegedly had a blazing row with Charles during which she slammed their loyal staff.
A source told Britain’s News of the World newspaper: ‘Camilla told Charles she felt let down by their closest aides and doesn’t think they put her feelings first. She knew she would have to pull out or feign illness at the last minute. The row was ferocious and Camilla told Charles just what she thought. ‘One day Camilla believes she will be queen and will exert influence and make decisions within the royal household. She thought there wouldn’t be a problem attending the service as she had been invited by Princes William and Harry. But just because they wanted her there, doesn’t mean the public did.’ After making the decision not to attend the service, Camilla said: ‘On reflection I believe my attendance would divert attention from the purpose of the occasion which is to focus on the life and service of Diana.’ The duchess and her daughter Laura are due to spend a week in France - without Charles - on a £40 million luxury yacht, which boasts 24 staff, a helipad, swimming pool and 10 double bedrooms.
They will be joined by two of Camilla’s female friends and Laura’s husband Harry.
