CAINE: ‘I WAS OUT OF CONTROL UNTIL I MET MY WIFE’
British acting icon SIR MICHAEL CAINE has credited his wife for stopping his excessive partying in the 1970s.
The Get Carter legend was constantly partying during the early 1970s and was getting though two bottles of vodka a day - but after meeting Shakira he realised his drinking was out of control.
He explains, "I was drinking two to three bottles of vodka a day. The trouble with doing something like that is that you lose count. You do not know you are doing it.
"It is fair to say that meeting Shakira at this point completely changed my life. It was she who pointed out to me that I was getting through all this vodka. It came as such a shock that I gave up drinking altogether for a year.
"I’ve since only drunk in moderation - and then only with food."
