Bo Diddley was said to be in a stable condition yesterday (28.08.07) after suffering a heart attack at the weekend.
The 78-year-old rock legend complained of dizziness and nausea during a routine medical check-up on Friday (24.08.07).
Diddley, whose songs include ‘Bo Diddley’ and ‘The Story Of Bo Diddley’, then suffered a heart attack after being admitted to Gainesville’s North Florida Regional Medical Centre near his hometown of Archer.
The guitar legend’s publicist Susan Clary said: "He is in stable condition at the hospital’s cardiac care unit after spending the weekend in intensive care.
‘He is conscious. The situation is very serious.’ Diddley suffered a stroke in May this year after casino performances in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was admitted to a Nebraska hospital and soon transferred to Florida.
The singer-and-guitarist – known for his unique guitar style and distinctively-constructed guitars - has been a music icon since topping the R’n'B charts with ‘Bo Diddley’ in 1955.
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and received a lifetime achievement Grammy Award in 1998.
