U.S. talk show queen OPRAH WINFREY is attempting to force a bridal party to ditch its wedding plans over a forthcoming political fundraiser, according to reports.
The star is hosting a celebrity-studded fundraiser for potential Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama at her Santa Barbara mansion on 8 September (07), but was disappointed to learn local ranch San Ysidro was booked out for a wedding - as she had wanted to invite her guests to stay there.
A source tells the New York Daily News, "Due to the proximity to and the cachet of the ranch to Oprah Winfrey’s estate, Oprah’s people have been calling the bride to either move or vacate some of the rooms to accommodate her guest list. The bride, an attorney, is not budging." However, Marco Perry, manager of the San Ysidro ranch, insists Winfrey did not force the bride from the venue, but confirmed rooms were made available.
He says, "The wedding party did cancel a few rooms - but we didn’t charge them a cancellation fee because there was such a demand for the rooms that weekend." Winfrey’s production company Harpo Inc. have denied claims calls were made to the bride.
George Clooney, Halle Berry, Jamie Foxx and Beyonce Knowles are expected to attend the party next month (Sep07).
