RICHIE ‘SURPRISED’ BY EARLY RELEASE
LATEST: NICOLE RICHIE was "pleasantly surprised" to be released from prison after just 82 minutes of her four-day jail sentence.
The pregnant socialite - who was jailed for a second DUI conviction - was booked, released and sent home in an 80-minute spell at the Century Regional Facility in Lynwood, California on Thursday (23Aug07).
Richie’s attorney Shawn Chapman Holley claims the star was surprised by her early release and was prepared to serve a four-day sentence.
He tells People.com, "Nicole was aware that most people with sentences similar to hers are booked and released in a matter of hours and she was hoping to be treated like everyone else. "Nevertheless, she was prepared to serve her entire four-day sentence had the Sheriff’s Department required her to do so." Richie was arrested on 11 December (06) when she found driving her Mercedes Benz the wrong way down California State Route 134 highway in Burbank, California.
Richie was charged with a misdemeanour DUI on 27 July (07) and was sentenced to 36 months of summary probation. If she violates probation, she will have to serve one year in jail.
