CLARKSON PLANS SMALLER TOUR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:15 pm

KELLY CLARKSON has reinstated plans to tour the U.S. this year (07) - with a much smaller tour than the one she cancelled two months ago.
In June (07), the pop star ditched plans to promote her new album My December because of poor ticket sales. The cancellation came just days after she fired her manager.
Two months on Clarkson has finalised plans for a series of dates starting in October in Verona, New York State - in venues significantly smaller than those previously booked, reports MTV.

  • JAGGER JUNIOR SECURES SMOKING PERMIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:14 pm

SIR MICK JAGGER’s son JAMES is the first man to be given permission to smoke indoors in London - so he can perform with cigarettes in a new play.
The 21-year-old is playing a Vietnam veteran and a Texan ‘village idiot’ in two black comedy plays at London fringe theatre the King’s Head.
Venue bosses convinced Islington council that Jagger Jr needed to smoke real cigarettes, and secured a permit - a month after smoking was banned in public places throughout England and Wales.
A source says, "The law has been a bit of a headache for some producers because you have to prove that smoking is vital to the integrity of the production.
"But with Vietnam as the backdrop it was obvious smoking was necessary." The news comes just days after Jagger Snr’s Rolling Stones bandmates Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood were caught smoking at a concert in London - but avoided a fine.

  • BEYONCE TOLD TO TONE DOWN MALAYSIAN CONCERT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:09 pm

BEYONCE KNOWLES is the latest western artist to be warned to tone down her stage show when she performs in Malaysia later this year (07).
Students in the predominantly Muslim country threatened to boycott a recent concert Gwen Stefani performed in the south east Asian nation, because of her raunchy reputation.
Now Knowles’ concert organisers have told her to cover up onstage when she performs there in November - just days after she accidentally flashed her chest at a gig in Toronto, Canada.
Razlan Ahmad Razali, the chairman of Pineapple Concerts, says, "We’ve informed Beyonce’s management about this issue of clothes, but it takes some of the fun out of it.
"Beyonce won’t be able to do the kind of show here that she does elsewhere.
"She’s a fashion icon, and we know that she often wears miniskirts and clothes that expose her navel during her performances. It’s a pity to restrict her, because her costumes are all tasteful and glamorous."

  • FANNY ARDANT ATTACKED AFTER PRAISING JAILED GUERILLA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:08 pm

Veteran French actress FANNY ARDANT has been criticised by Italian politicians after labelling a jailed guerilla leader her "hero".
The 59-year-old praised Renato Curcio in an Italian magazine, explaining how he hadn’t abandoned his left-wing ideals, unlike many leaders of the 1968 Paris student revolt.
She said, "For me Renato Curcio is a hero. I always considered the Red Brigades phenomenon to be very moving and passionate." Curcio was jailed for a series of bombings in the 1970s and his group is held responsible for the murder of Christian Democrat leader Aldo Moro in 1978.
Her comments infuriated Italian conservative politicians. Forza Italia politician Giancarlo Galan - the president of the Veneto region that includes Venice - asked Arden to "do us the favour of not coming to Venice for the upcoming film festival".
Christian Democrat Luca Volonte added, "Nobody asks an actress to be intelligent or to know about the innumerable tragedies but at least (she should show) respect for victims’ families."

  • FOXX DEFENDS VICK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:08 pm

Singer/actor JAMIE FOXX has defended disgraced American football star MICHAEL VICK, who is expected to serve jail time for his involvement in illegal dog fighting matches.
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Vick was indicted by a federal grand jury for "conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and to sponsor a dog in animal fighting venture" last month (Jul07) and has said he will plead guilty in court next week (27Aug07).
While Foxx condemns cruelty to animals, he believes Vick did not realise the implications of his sponsorship of the dog fighting ring.
He says, "It’s a cultural thing, I think. Most brothers didn’t know that, you know. I used to see dogs fighting in the neighbourhood all the time. I didn’t know that was Fed time. So, Mike probably just didn’t read his handbook on what not to do as a black star.
"I know that cruelty to animals is bad, but sometimes people shoot people and kill people and don’t get time.
"I think in this situation, he really didn’t know the extent of it, so I always give him the benefit of the doubt." Vick faces a potential of 12 to 18 months in prison when he is sentenced.

  • WRITER SUES DISNEY OVER HANNAH MONTANA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:06 pm

A comedy writer is suing Walt Disney claiming he was the brainchild behind hit TV show Hannah Montana.
Buddy Sheffield filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday (23Aug07) alleging breach of contract, breach of confidence, unfair competition and unjust enrichment.
Sheffield - who has written for The Smothers Brothers Show and The Dolly Parton Show - claims he pitched an idea for a television series called Rock and Roland to the Disney Channel in 2001.
According to the lawsuit, the story was about a junior high school student who lived a secret double life as a rock star.
Sheffield claims Disney plagiarised the idea for their show Hannah Montana and is demanding a share of the revenue.
Disney bosses were unavailable for comment.

  • JERRY LEWIS: ‘MERV GRIFFIN DESERVED TO DIE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:05 pm

MERV GRIFFIN "deserved to die" because he avoided treating his prostate cancer, according to comedian JERRY LEWIS.
Griffin, the brains behind game shows like Jeopardy and Wheel Of Fortune, died earlier this month (Aug07) at the age of 82.
Lewis reveals he was furious when his late pal passed away - because he had the same disease, but was cured after seeing doctors.
Speaking on U.S. TV show Entertainment Tonight, Lewis says, "I was very angry when I heard (Griffin) died. He didn’t have to die. He knew he had prostate cancer, and he did nothing about it. He deserved to die.
"You can’t have cancer and say, ‘I’ll be all right.’ You’re not going to be all right. It’s a malady that has to be addressed. I had it. I went and had it addressed and got it out of there. I’m going to beat George Burns. Burns died at 100, I’m going to go for 101, and I want a television special for my 101st birthday!"

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:32 pm

LATEST: Troubled star AMY WINEHOUSE has denied she was savagely attacked by husband BLAKE FIELDER-CIVIL after the couple were photographed covered in blood and scratches.
Shots of the singer sporting several bandages on her arms and walking in blood-splattered shoes with a scratched Fielder-Civil by her side appeared in Friday’s (24Aug07) British newspaper The Sun.
But the Rehab hitmaker denies she was involved in a fight with her husband-of-three-months, insisting he "saved my life" after he caught her taking drugs with a female sex worker.
She tells showbiz blogger Perez Hilton, "Blake is the best man in the world.
We would never ever harm each other.
"I was cutting myself after he found me in our room about to do drugs with a call girl and rightly said I wasn’t good enough for him. I lost it and he saved my life.
"I’ll be alright. I need to fight my man’s corner for him though. For the last time he did not and never has hurt me. He deserves the truth, he is an amazing man who saved my life again and got cut badly for his troubles. All he get is horrible stories printed about him and he just keeps quiet, but this is too much." Winehouse recently collapsed following three days of hard partying and was admitted to a London hospital. Reports have since surfaced she allegedly suffered a drug overdose.
