WAY SPEARHEADS COMIC BOOK REVOLUTION
LATEST: MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE frontman GERARD WAY wants to spearhead a comic book revolution with his new animation THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY.
The rocker, who has produced a series of comic books with Brazilian artist Gabriel Ba, hopes the cartoons will inspire a new generation of comic-book lovers.
He says, "This is the kind of superhero book that needs to exist and they don’t exist anymore. I want to do work that pushes the boundary and I want people to love it.
"I hope it gets people into comic stores who wouldn’t normally go there.
That’s a success to me. Comics are a struggling art form. I’m psyched about it." The Umbrella Academy will hit stores in September (07).
