The ex-servant is confidant the princess - who was killed in a Paris car crash in 1997 - has found peace and happiness in the afterlife.
He told Britain’s Closer magazine: ‘I think she’ll have raised a few glasses of champagne over the last 10 years. She’ll have had a few giggles up there with my mum, Mother Teresa, and other friends who’ve passed away.’ Paul says the princess’ spirit stayed with him until her state funeral at London’s Westminster Abbey.
He said: ‘I just knew the princess was in that room watching me when I kept a vigil by her coffin in Kensington Palace.
‘I stayed with her all night as no one from the royal family wanted to be there. I felt a very strong presence with me until her burial. Then I felt a release.’ The butler is certain Diana would have been ‘proud of her boys’ with Prince Charles, Princes William and Harry.
He also warned William’s girlfriend Kate Middleton to be cautious of people inside the royal household.
He said: ‘Be careful, Kate. There are people around you who you think are friends, but who are not - people within the royal household. All is not what it seems.’ Paul is releasing ‘Remembering Diana - The Way We Were’, an updated version of his 2006 tell-all book, to mark the 10th anniversary of the princess’ death.
