JUDGE DISMISSES DJ’S DEFAMATION LAWSUIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:02 am

A defamation lawsuit brought by disgraced New York radio host DJ STAR against New York City councilman JOHN LIU was thrown out of court on Friday (17Aug07).
In 2006, Liu slammed DJ Star - real name Troi Torain - as a "sick, racist paedophile" after the presenter made on-air racial and sexual comments about rival DJ Envy’s wife and four-year-old daughter. DJ Star was fired by New York radio station Power 105.1 for his comments.
But DJ Star took legal action, seeking $55 million (£27.5 million) in damages when Liu denounced his behaviour and called for a boycott of Power 105.1.
However, on Friday a federal judge ruled that most people wouldn’t have believed Liu’s remark to have been literal and dismissed the defamation lawsuit.
