LINDSAY LOHAN escaped a drink driving arrest years before the troubles of the past 12 months because her faithful former bodyguard got to her before police did.
The actress, who was charged with her second DUI of the year in Santa Monica, California last month (Jul07), once drove drunk after an argument with then-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, according to ex-minder Tony Almeida.
The bodyguard, who worked for Lohan for three years, tells America’s In Touch magazine, "Lindsay called me from the top of Mulholland Drive in the middle of the night.
"She told me that she had a fight with Wilmer and had gotten in the car to chase after him. She’d run off the road and smashed against the curb. She was clearly drunk.
"I drove her back home before the police arrived and her wrecked car was towed away."

Disney’s new rodent movie RATATOUILLE is a record-breaking hit in France, where the film is set.
The film, about a talking rat who has ambitions to become a great chef, has made $16 million (GBP8 million) in its first week on release in France to score the country’s highest debut for an animated feature.
The previous record was held by Finding Nemo in 2003.

The owner of the building that housed TONY SOPRANO’s favourite sandwich store is selling off the facade a brick at a time.
Manny Costeira is tearing down the white-brick frontage of the fictional Satriale’s Pork Store, and he’s selling authenticated bricks, complete with certificates, online at $25 (GBP12.50) each.
And Costeira’s links to the hit TV drama won’t end there - the building that housed Satriale’s is to be demolished to make way for a new apartment complex, called The Soprano.

Sex tape star KIM KARDASHIAN has landed her own reality TV series, which is aimed at filling the gap left by former best pal PARIS HILTON’s show THE SIMPLE LIFE.
The socialite, who hit the headlines last year (06) after a videotaped romp with ex-boyfriend RAY J was leaked to an Internet porn company, will star in an untitled family show, to be produced by American Idol host Ryan Seacrest.
The series will also feature Kardashian’s mother Kris, stepfather Bruce Jenner, a former Olympian, her sisters Kourtney and Khloe and half-sisters Kylie and Kendall.

RUSH HOUR star CHRIS TUCKER is set to remind fans he’s a stand-up comic first and foremost by embarking on a global comedy tour.
The movie star insists once promotional work for Rush Hour 3 is complete he’ll start plans for an ambitious stand-up tour, which will be filmed at certain stops for a performance movie.
He says, "A lot of people don’t know I started out doing standup comedy so I’m doing a stand-up 20 city tour, then worldwide.
"I’ll also be filming a stand-up comedy movie like Eddie Murphy did with Raw."

An investigation into an alleged sexual assault that took place at Playboy boss HUGH HEFNER’s famous Los Angeles mansion has been dropped.
Police started their questioning on Monday (06Aug07) and concluded their report on Friday (10Aug07), declaring there was no evidence that the reported assault at a summer party had taken place.
A statement from Playboy reads, "We were informed by LAPD that their investigation has concluded with no evidence of any sexual assault having occurred at the Playboy Mansion.
"Safety and security at the Mansion remain a priority, not only for those who live there, but for all invited guests. We thank the LAPD for their quick and thorough investigation into this matter."

Actress CHRISTINA APPLEGATE and JOHNATHON SCHAECH’s marriage is officially over two-and-a-half-years after divorce papers were filed.
The couple’s divorce was ruled final on Friday (10Aug07) in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Applegate and actor Schaech were married for four years before splitting in 2005.

Country star BRAD PAISLEY was left deeply moved by "the most important concert I will play all year" when he took his Bonfires & Amplifiers tour to Fort Campbell, Kentucky to play for troops.
The Celebrity singer was joined by tourmates Kelly Pickler and Taylor Swift at the special show staged for the members of America’s 101st Airborne Division and their families on Monday (06Aug07).
An estimated crowd of 35,000 watched as the stars performed their hits, as many of the soldiers prepare to be deployed to Iraq in the coming months.

TONY WILSON, the man behind Manchester, England’s musical heyday, has died following a heart attack. He was 57.
The Factory Records co-founder, who managed groups like Joy Division, New Order and Happy Mondays, had been battling kidney cancer.
Wilson was taken to Manchester’s Christie Hospital on Sunday night (05Aug07) after suffering a heart attack. He failed to recover and died on Friday (10Aug07).
Wilson, a former journalist, also hosted his own TV show in his native Britain, but he is best known as the godfather of the Madchester (corr) pop music scene in the 1980s, when many of his Factory acts enjoyed chart success and cult status.
Just last month (Jul07), Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder announced he was helping to fund his mentor’s cancer treatment after Wilson learned he could keep his cancer under control with an experimental new drug at a cost of $7,000 (GBP3,500) per month.
Wilson was refused aid from the National Health Service in Britain because Sutent, the drug he was using to boost his life expectancy, is considered merely a trial treatment and there is not enough demonstrable evidence to support its use in treating kidney cancer.
Wilson was forced to buy the drug privately and friends like Ryder and his bandmates set up a fund to help him cover costs.
In one of his final interviews, an ailing Wilson said, "I’m the only person in this industry who famously has never made any money. I used to say some people make money and some make history, which is very funny until you find you can’t afford to keep yourself alive."
